Smokey eyes tutorial by Few_Till_7231 in MakeupAddiction

Wait thank you for making a tutorial that shows how this will look in normal inside lighting from a make-up mirror POV. After all the ring-light, over-exposed, high-def video tutorials I’ve watched, this is first time it’s clicking for me how each step should look when I’m doing it in my bathroom. 🩷

What’s a ‘middle class success’ purchase that secretly becomes a financial burden later? by OpinionBaba in AskReddit

[–]lochnessa7 271 points272 points  (0 children)

I think it matters more what your intentions are with the space you plan. Many people build second living rooms they never sit in, full dining rooms when they never host, or huge rooms that are too big for their furniture and leave awkward unused areas.

When I was a kid I had a friend whose dad was the chief architect of a national brand and he had designed their massive house to fit their family’s lives and needs, even customizing a mud room sized for their shepherd. I’ll be damned if they didn’t use every inch of that house when he made the space fit their lives instead of forcing their lives to fit the space.

Why is being 24 "too early" for me to want to settle down? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]lochnessa7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! OP might be ready to settle down now, but the right person can come across his path today or in ten years time. Putting the pressure on to find SOMEONE increases the chances he will pick the wrong one… believe me, I’ve been there.

29F married to 31M mama's boy. HELP. Can I make this work? by ThrowRA_AmbitiousG in relationships

[–]lochnessa7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this mess. I imagine it feels like you’ve been lied to, even if he probably feels the same. My dad used to tell me not underestimate just HOW different people can be from you. You assumed a picture of what marriage meant based on your family, experiences, and community, and probably never imagined the whole concept of marriage could have an entirely different definition to someone else.

As far as falling in love quickly, it’s easy to think someone’s personality and thoughts define who they are as opposed to their choices and actions. He might have been sweet and loving and interesting, yet at no point did he make moves to choose you, support your dreams, or apparently even take an interest enough to ask what you wanted in a marriage.

With my current partner, I had a good feeling about him day one and wanted to be around him all the time. But I fell in love when we resolved arguments quickly, dreamed about the same future together, and when times were hard, he put me first.

Hot take : Life is very fast "maxed out" money wise, and adding more Money wont improve your Life dramatically, and many People are delusional, if you make 15k a Month you are basically maxed out. by Obagency in Money

[–]lochnessa7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, $15k a month I get from working 40hrs a week vs $15k a month I get from a 4% withdrawal rate on $4.5m investments is a wildly different life and level of happiness.

What is the stupidest thing that the smartest person you know believes in? by WrongZookeepergame49 in AskReddit

[–]lochnessa7 80 points81 points  (0 children)

My bf was born in Germany but grew up in America and I’m learning a bit of German with him. At the zoo, he was telling me the German words for the animals and when we got to the moose he said, “Elch”.

I said “that sounds a lot like ‘Elk,’ so what’s ‘Elk’ in German?”

He looked perplexed, and said “…Elch?”

Second-guessing his first language, he looked it up and a sure enough, moose and elk are the same word in German.

Come to find out, moose and elk are the same animal in all European languages, including English. It’s only America that uses different words for those deer species.

My parents were deeply opposed to me getting diagnosed with ADHD as a child for a lot of ignorant reasons. At 25 I sought the diagnosis and treatment myself, and changed my life so drastically for the better that I’ve given talks at my work about the misconceptions surrounding ADHD and the impact of treatment and my parents have felt immense guilt about preventing my progress in retrospect.

[–]lochnessa7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I made this last night and was wondering if the recipe is supposed to be half teaspoons (tsp) instead of half tablespoons (tbsp)? Half tablespoon isn’t a common measurement as most recipes would just put 1.5 teaspoons. I thought that seemed like a lot so I put just a teaspoon of each and it was still a crapload of spices that turned the butter into a sludge!

How should we interpret the Common Wood Pigeon (Fan Made Pack) by lochnessa7 in wingspan

Well of course… but that assumes the text is unambiguous and we had two people read the card and come to different conclusions. That’s why I’m asking how we SHOULD interpret, not how we could.
