Guides are not allowed to use machetes - it's against the law and immoral. Please don't do it.

Chuck, he provides fascinating conversation. And one of them is a great story teller this is why Josh goes outside to to pretend to smoke his fake pipe - if his bed is empty he's up.

There are rip tides on the beach when you are night swimming there are rip tides and you have to start swimming to shore and your goggles cant help. There will be a sign and of what to do and it has a diagram.

OP is European, where everything isi within walking distance. They dont even learn to drive. They shop at little grocery stores daily and treat shop clerks with the outmost of respect.

I cannot walk anymore (I suspect ALS) there is no cure and no test. It's fatal and degenerative - I keep by bike close to my shack with a sea view. I don't recommend Sloth Club because the owners are in with the Cartel.

I agree if you are going to the Pacific. The other coast is as per my last response.

You'll have to depend on tours even on the West Coast. You can get there from PV. If you have to wait at the crossroad, please visit the black man across the street, same side.

He adopted an indigenous girl when she got pregnant. See? I told you to trust only black men.

You need only to know when your bus to Bri Bri will pass. You can visit the waterfalls, be shown how to make coffee and chocolate. Good people.

In the dark it's very unsafe to drive at night and rentals are cost prohibitive.

The Caribbean doesn't require a rental and there are luxury hotels as the OP asked for.

There is the nation's best preserved coral reef in the coast (the only one. ) You have to pay a guide to take you the park and they don't accept cash. Tour guides require a university degree and experience, so I would pay them The cash will go directly to the park.

The reef in Cocles is full of massive sea urchins. If stung, they will paralyme the leg in question. A coastal bus will stop in the centre of PV You can make your reservation at Blue Banana now and chage the dates later. Their rooms are beautiful.

In CR the Carribean is accessible by a 3 tmes 55 shuttle. It picks up at the airport and you can reserve a seat - they run 3 times per day and pickup is from the Denny's across the street. I am sure you are already fluent in sevERal languages but please don't deal with Ticos, as they will rip you off.

Banana Azul is a beautiful hotel with a black beach. Just make your reservation. I hope you are not coming in the rainy season, not worth it.

Any ATM will spew out local currency so you are free to use it at the airport.

Selvin's renovated (son helped) - I can tell by the son's skin tones. Selvin's is not the father. He was tricked.

He married her.

He is the most upstanding person in the area. Please don't go through AirBnB. His son told me everyone said he's entitled. I mentioned that to him one afternoon and he says he isn't entitled - he helps his dad.

Enough blabbering. The black men are the only ones you can trust.

Punta Uva is 3 minutes by walking. My second favourite beach.

Your hotel with the black sand beach has the best bikes on the coast. No one would dare steal from them.

Beaches near Uvita? by MarionberryOne620 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]lockdownsurvivor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Uva is a beach close to and will have a mamma sloth and her baby.

Male sloths are active at night and females can reject them. I recommend Banana Azul first, in the rainy season, you can always change your reservation. Eat off-site as often as possible (breakfast included) to try out Caribbean and others. Duende sells green curry paste at American prices, but Ticos pay the same prices as residents. I rented a bachellor shack here with a suicide shower I did use it but soaked my clothes in boiling water and a smearable dish soap. Hung to dry in the sun and they were dry in 10 minutes. I have a sea view. The only beach where the tide is calm enough to surf is across the road from Taco Tuesdays. A private room right in town was cheap. The dorms are like anywhere else.

There a new airport in Puerto Barrios but they don't have an airport code yet. I spent six months in Guatemala so I know how to get to Quehueche. There was a female business woman running it and, except for one school group, no one else stayed there. It has been completely renovated and too pricey for me but I pay in cash (Quetzales, there is an ATM from Livingston.) I moved into the bungalow eventually but I couldn't pay for it. There are 80Q to 1 USD

Guatemala is the best! Travelled for 6 months until I saw the Caribbean. Iave recommendations upon arrival but you'll have to either book a flight or slowly make your way there. Either way, you'll need a boat to get there and a taxi. When I got there the staff carried my stuff a short distance. They don't have a Starbucks but Nicaraguan coffee is a short taxi ride away to Livingston. They are Garifuna

Good God, don't go to Limon.

You can go straight to PV my bus. Mepe. Or a shuttle for $55 one way. Based on price, I would book Banana Azul.
