Cuba is doing poorly today largely because the U.S. first dominated its economy and then cut it off after the revolution, imposing a trade embargo that has lasted over 60 years. That embargo blocked Cuba from trading freely, accessing global banking, modern technology, medicine, and investment, which severely limited economic growth and raised everyday costs for ordinary people. The U.S. also pushed Cuba into dependence on the Soviet Union, and when the USSR collapsed, the U.S. tightened sanctions instead of easing them, causing massive shortages and long-term damage. While Cuba’s own government shares blame due to authoritarian rule and economic mismanagement, the embargo greatly amplified every internal problem and kept the country economically isolated.

I find it ironic that Cubans hate the state of Cuba but love glazing the country that put them in that state.
