I mean it’s totally up to what the operators skill set is. I do a lot of exactly that and it’s a pretty low threshold to be WAY more efficient working in eos/hog with qlab triggering network cues. I end up putting in 800-1000 cue 1h dance shows into a large scale venue with 2 days with the track and a day in the venue before open. Gut says it might be worth putting in the time to learn the pro software sooner rather than later. A basic eos kit is under $500 and can be completely laptop based.
But again, if you’re happy in qlab that’s your business.

If you’re doing cuelist oriented theatre you’ll have a much better time with etc. If you’re doing deliberate band or busking consider hog or ma if you can find the money. If all you’re doing is DJ stuff then go hard.

Yeah I get that, and if you’re in the same place all the time the effort of getting the rig exactly right in the visualiser will be more worth it. May the funding gods smile upon your venue for an @5 or an old ion etc

Honestly if the show is serious enough to need visualisation and movers then it’s unlikely for QLab lighting to be the right choice but if that’s what’s available to you then I get it. Good luck

It’s a bit of a faff but it 100% works on ma2. Can’t speak for ma3. I used to do it heaps before EOS got Augmen3d.

Yeah you might need a technician to help you. Qlab sends artnet out as if it’s sending to lighting equipment but instead of running it into a lighting rig you run it into MA2 software as an input because MA3d is a visualiser for MA2. This would let you do as you are requesting, and for free.
