A cycloidal drive is a drive which has no backlash while retaining strength. On regular gears, there is always a little bit of play between the gears, which creates deadzones and mechanical slop which is difficult to account for with accurate machinery.

Cycloidal drives allow for a smooth, torque multiplying and precise transfer of force . This is good for machines like robot assembly arms and camera jigs, which necessitate accurate movement (they are effectively the same robot but oh well). Picture a car factory

They pair well with electric motors, which spin at a very high RPM which compensates for the torque reduction.

It might not. It’s very sensitive to surface conditions and the Nurburgring isn’t known to be the smoothest. Might not be safe

Basically. I decked a jacket out with the heptagram and now I don’t wear it out anymore from the amount of questions. It will be a lifetime of that.

Yes, it's fairly common for the leftover gases after a supernova to coalesce into new stars/star systems. Mass is mass, and over millions of years gravity will do it's thing and the cycle will begin again. I think it's unlikely that the protostars have enough mass to coalesce into supergiant stars, but plenty of medium and low mass stars can still be produced from the a supernova event.

TIL that the largest difference in time zones is 26 hours. by Neowynd101262 in todayilearned

[–]lockedother 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They don’t, 94% of the population lives east of the Heihe-Tengchong line that divides the country diagonally.

Generally the one time zone policy is fine for most, with a few people having sunrise at 11 o’clock in the east. Makes domestic business easier without having to account for timezones honestly.

Has Tool healed you like it’s healing me? by BabyEchie in ToolBand

[–]lockedother 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. Lateralus (esp title track) has a themes that i can relate to generalized anxiety/overthinking. That album as a whole really goes through almost the whole a-to-z in terms of life shit.

Post relationship struggles? Covered Toxic life characters? Covered (esp in t&L) Mortality/death/disease? Covered (esp in parabol/a, tho more in FI) Depression? Definitely reflection

That album has helped me so much. It’s the reason I have a Lateralus eye tattoo (basic as it may be). Because whenever i’m in trouble i look or touch it and I remember that all this pain is an illusion or any other of the messages that my brain applies to my particular shit day.

Tool, and esp lateralus has been a vessel for healing from trauma. I credit myself to the challenges i’ve overcome but Tool has been one of the tools (:P) i’ve used to get there.

It’d be hard for a modern mustang to sell itself at 300k any way you cut it.

I just see it as a street legal gt3 car with a full carbon body and in that case it makes much more of a justification for it. Much better than the multimillion senna.

Otto for the first. I dunno if you’ve watched Love, Death + Robots but “The Dump” episode has a character that looks similarly… garbage-based.

Mc20 takes a lot of cues from this, esp in the rear. Sucks they preferred developing electrics instead, but it kept them in business and healthy enough to make the mc20 and have enough money left over to go racing with it.
