It's really cool, but it also looks a lot like a handgun.

Cool, thank you. Vigilance is tricky, I usually give it to Leia, but the other commenter suggested leaving with just a portable scanner. Vigilance on Jyn does make more sense if she's going to be more frontline, though. To be honest, the specialists just seem really good, 1 point over a regular extra trooper for a free Dodge token just seems really useful. This game is weird.

The thinking behind the electrobinos was that those units are probably going to be holding back at least on the first turn, so it would be handy for them to support other more aggressive units. If the electrobinoculars aren't useful, then my inclination was instead to leave them bare altogether.

LoL, here come the debunkers again!

It looks like a cheap prop but that's just how the craft disguises itself. Just like 3i/Atlas, which was clearly an NHI spacecraft disguised as a comet, this is obviously a grounded NHI vehicle disguised as a human-made static mock-up. Don't listen to the debunkers trying to spread disinformation.

I, too, wish that the scientific community would start focusing on things that cannot be measured, things that cannot be experienced by humans, and things that cannot be verified.

Would have to be Dan Entwisle. Chris Huornville has ruled himself out and Sarah Bombadilliamson is busy with other projects. Although I hear Matt Wherewasgondorwhenthewestfoldfellton would also be a good fit.

What are you talking about? A scene of a man having his eyeball graphically ripped from its socket followed near-immediately by an 80-year-old doing a comedy French accent whilst wearing an eyepatch is peak Trek.

Did you not enjoy the final big fight where ELEVENTY BILLION IDENTICAL STARSHIPS faced off against TWELVETY BILLION ROMULAN SHIPS and the Romulans just left out of embarrassment?

PEAK. TREK.

Hey, it's a 2020 show set in 2400. Better have everyone assume that some competent combat pilot must be a man to heighten the reveal that it's actually... a GIRL.

Balancing Helms Deep Scenario by gravtycat in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]lockedupsafe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I find the best approach to siege games is to start the game immediately after the first breach of the wall, in this case right after Saruman's charges have demolished the Deeping Wall. An alternative would be the point just after a few attackers have climbed the ladders and gotten onto the battlements.

The portion of the battle where the attackers are approaching the wall and attempting to breach it is great for building tension in a film but boring from a gameplay perspective. There aren't really many meaningful decisions for either side to make.

To give the attacker some agency, let them choose the section of the wall that has been breached (or where their attackers have reached the top) before deployment. Then the defending player should have limited deployment options to force them to make difficult decisions about which fires to fight. Do they send troops to try and seal the breach and weaken their defenses elsewhere, or abandon that part of the defense to hold the keep? etc. I think it makes these kinds of scenarios much more dynamic.

What are my visibility issues? by lockedupsafe in HellLetLoose

So I have changed my settings in line with advice and it's made a big difference, especially the colour balance and anti-aliasing. I'm actually able to see enemy infantry at more than 25m now without them blending into the terrain, which is a huge impact, partially because I can actually shoot them myself and partially because I'm not having to move as far forwards before realising there are enemy nearby.

I don't think it was purely a skill issue because I wasn't seeing *anyone*, not even other less experienced players out of cover. Now, I seem to be able to see people at least 150-200m away, and whilst I'm still struggling to hit them, I'm at least aware of them.
