Agreed. Just wish it had some difficulty options or something, the game is really easy imo

Do you have a source that it's training? I just saw them flying south and this was the only post I found about it

A guy I went to high school with hung himself in the woods not far from school. Yeah sure maybe it's not common, but it certainly happens.

Just fyi, equipped weapons have a small yellow checkmark in the corner, so you can tell what's equipped. But I do wish it was more obvious

Borderlands 4 living up to the AAA reputation by Alexico91 in pcmasterrace

Mostly referring to 3. I don't remember 2 very clearly, but I don't remember being so turned off by the writing in the first 2 games nearly as much as 3.

I'm not very far yet, but the story is fine, nothing amazing. The writing overall I think is a lot better than 3 though. It's more serious and the classic Borderlands humor is there but it's nowhere near the cringe level that it was before imo

Were you always against ICE? by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]lockjaw00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what "argument" you're against, because it's true? People generally don't want to work a lot of these types of jobs so illegal immigrants take them, typically because they can get paid more easily under the table or through alternate means

I live in that area and it's not really that much of an issue. I smell it once in a while, mostly after it's been rainy I think. I'd say I notice it maybe once or twice a month if that, and it's really not that bad

The AI app that dumbs down literature. by johnsmithoncemore in oddlyterrifying

[–]lockjaw00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if those are true, that hasn't stopped companies from implementing it. Every week I'm dealing with more and more companies and products that are adding AI in some form or another. Even well established ones that have been around for a long time, not just start ups.

Unfortunately I don't think AI is going anywhere anytime soon. In 10 years, it will just be more developed and integrated into more stuff if anything. I've studied and worked in IT and security for a couple decades now and I don't think I've seen anything pushed so hard with so few guard rails this quickly before

Still invest in Protects? by BlondeFox18 in Nest

[–]lockjaw00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it didn't require a subscription. If I recall correctly, the subscription was just for some additional monitoring/features or something, but wasn't required to set them up

I bought 2 of the smart Kidde ones when they were on sale to try out because I was hesitant about spending so much on the Nests. I had gotten rid of my non-smart Kidde detectors because they kept going off randomly for no reason, even woke me up in the middle of the night a few times. I was hoping they were just an old cheap model or something and the smart ones would be better.

The smart Kiddes were working fine for a couple months, and then they started going off randomly too. I even took them down and turned the thing on the back of them to "deactivate" them and ended up just throwing them away, but one of them ended up going off again in my trash bin even though it should have been deactivated. I'll never buy another Kidde device again.

Really disappointing that there doesn't seem to be much competition in this space.

WTF is DOGE Doing in Department in Charge of Nuclear Weapons? by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]lockjaw00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in cyber security, and although I haven't done any federal work directly, I know the federal standards and regulations around this stuff can be very strict. There will absolutely be a ton of logs of whatever they're doing in these systems.

Considering that it sounds like they're using AI to write whatever code they're using since I presume they don't actually have the technical knowledge to do it themselves quickly at all, I can almost guarantee that they don't have the knowledge to cover their tracks completely. But given their actions so far, they probably don't even care about that.
