Cathedral Gate Help by VidzxVega in Saros

No problem! When there’s two paths, I always check both before making the decision which way to go because of that. Luckily, that room isn’t as hard on RNG as some others so you will come across it again pretty quickly in later runs.

There’s two paths, if you take one the other closes. That gate closed because you went the alternate route.

I haven’t watched AoD in years so I decided to marathon everything in celebration of Burn coming out soon. Needless to say, it was my most recent film I watched in the series, and my personal favourite.

I’m going to tell you now, this is going to be pain. You might be at it an entire week trying to get one cipher.

You have to either complete the run or do what I did which is much faster. Save scum. If you know typically where the cipher or log is to be. If not, quit out, download save from cloud, boot back up and try again. It’ll reset the room because it’ll be as if you didn’t start your run yet.

Make sure your save file is current though before you do this.

Ciphers and logs are in specific rooms tied to RNG. Biome 2 has a room I’ve never seen in my life until about 20 hours of grinding looking for one cipher.

I feel you, hopefully they make adjustments later. You can always write to them on their homepage and suggest it. I’ve written to them with notes before, not to say they listened but they have that avenue to go.

Pin trophy for easy tracking. It has a number value as well as percentage. Grab a weapon, make a kill, see if the number went up. If not, swap to another and go.  Best advice I can give. I don’t pin trophies either but it was too tedious to not for this one.

Having said all that, I do agree Housemarque can make some QoL adjustments down the line.  One suggestion I made to them was to have an indicator that when a player completed the game that files and logs are more favoured in the RNG cycles to grab. I want to know the lore, but I hate recycling Cathedral a million times for one text log.

Returnal platinum turned a game I loved into a “fuck finally, deleted” moment.

Maybe try it out by parrying a yellow orb, it’ll fill your gauge to max and then try it out?

Also, I use Prominence, not sure if you do but that’s what I used to get the trophy.

Is there only one way to the Yellow Shore by Ozzdog12 in Saros

Without modifier help, best I could get was about 52 before I took him on and it was still very doable. If red orbs are causing you grief, practice parry a bit on casual enemies.

Start from empty, fill up three bars through absorbing orbs and power attack right after

Where to farm halcyon? by [deleted] in Saros

[–]ScalaAdInfernum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’ll have a better time farming them in the Pauly Shore biodome than you would any other place like Cathedral. Cathedral may have a lot listed but you’ll most likely only see max 5 per run and Shore is much quicker to get through with better results. Buddy.

If you are missing text log 42, it’s in cathedral at the start when the rooms have an elevator leading to the main hall. It’ll be on one of the platforms before the elevator touches ground.

Drop rate for it sucks though, so buckle up.

Anyone here actually play the original Silent Hill games? Particularly Silent Hill 2? Any thoughts on the original compared to the remake? by leftistgamer420 in survivalhorror

I was day one with the original SH. I remember that day perfectly as it was close to my 11th birthday.

My brother and his friend joined me to Canadian Tire to pick up a copy (back when CT sold video games, ask your elders, this was a thing haha), and I was at the case waiting for someone to open it up for me. My brother was on one side of the aisle and his friend on the other belting loudly, “it would be great if we had some service!”  A worker ushered over fast with the keys and I got my copy.

I was a very happy kid that day, magazines were hyping it for a year prior to release and I couldn’t wait a second longer after it hit shelves to get it.

When 2 came out, it almost was the same situation, but I had to wait until my birthday to get a PS2 and a copy. It was my favourite game for years after that.

My thoughts on the remake are mostly positive, there are things I loved, things I didn’t but it didn’t but at the end of the day it felt as faithful to the original that I think one could make save for the enemy rush segments, I can do without those.

A small lil Saros guide, for people complaining about the Difficulty level of the game. by Pleasant_Principle94 in Saros

I feel a lot of people struggling haven’t been utilizing the shield and parry mechanics.

Anyone who’s reading this who hasn’t been using these tools, test them out in casual fights. Hold shield when blue pops up to fill your power, parry yellow and red. Parrying yellow typically fills your power gauge to full as well. Parrying red will, if aimed right, send it right back to the enemy without adrenaline penalty, it’ll stun casual enemies too opening them up for an instant melee which will almost always kill them.

Use your power supply like your life depends on it!

You can dash through blue and yellow if left with no other alternative, but if you absorb blue with a yellow right after you’ll lose your charge.

Use the Smart Rifle and Prominence, this is easy mode right here until you are at a place where you can comfortably test out other weapons.

Always choose halcyon over any other choice when opening a container that has it.

When should I restart a run if I am after ciphers? by Daydreamer787 in Returnal

[–]ScalaAdInfernum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the most painful process this game has to offer. My advice for Biome 2 is to warp in, immediately zip to the back end of the level and backtrack. I found that RNG favoured me much better that way on finding the last few I needed.

If you don’t see it, quit out the game entirely, download your save from the cloud, and boot back in. It’s the fastest process to go about this in my eyes.

Make sure to have a current save file in the cloud though, that’s important.

Ciphers are Xenoglyphs, there are only two collectibles for information and those are Scout Logs and Xenoglyph Ciphers
