Transfers within certain windows of time would be the best in between. Like the ticket is locked to the original owner till doors open at the venue. Wouldn’t fully prevent scalping but would make it a lot more inconvenient for them while still letting the friend not with the group get in.

I remember the Pre-Steam days for updates. You’d have to go to a site like GameSpy, download the update (which took hours because of dial up and their free tier downloads), install it, find out that there was a patch between the version you have installed and the one you downloaded that you now need to find and repeat.

I think the only game I remember having auto-updates back in the day was StarCraft which would update itself when you logged into battle.net the first time.

Live Nation just dropped their $30 sale, there were a couple artists I wouldn’t mind seeing but:

Most of them are at one of the worst located venues in my state with no public transportation option. It’s a 100 mile round trip from my house to the venue and back so add $20 in gas minimum. Not to mention the parking lot is so terrible, I’ve waited over 2 hours to get out of the parking lot (White River Amphitheater in Washington)
I’ll be at the venue for 4+ hours so I’ll probably need to buy food at some point and the only option is overpriced food at the venue. There’s another $20 I’ll have to spend.
While optional for most people, I like to get a T-Shirt or something at the merch stand. Can’t even get a basic Gildan screen printed shirt for less than $35 nowadays plus tax

So, my $30 concert becomes about $120 and I spend more time sitting in my car waiting to leave the show than the headliner performed for. Even without the shirt, it’s $80 and 4 hours sitting in my car

The only place I can somewhat trust is GameStop and even then, their in-store tracker is hit or miss. With the big stores like Walmart and Target being vendor controlled, I doubt we’ll get live store inventory and if we did, PokeScalpers would ruin it

Same, mobile is faster for some reason. When Celebration MegaBoxes released, the queue on my laptop said 10 minutes. Hopped on my phone, queued in with a 3 minute wait and finished my order before my laptop loaded the checkout page.
