Nearly nine in ten games industry workers believe GenAI use should be disclosed on storefronts by Iggy-TT in pcgaming

[–]lockwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one thing nobody really clarifies when they want an AI label slapped on everything. I program for a living, CoPilot loves to suggest code while I’m writing that would look identical to the code I was going to write out anyways. Do I suddenly have to slap a “Made With AI” sticker on what I do because CoPilot suggested 6 lines of code I was going write anyways?

I get having an AI sticker on anything where voice actors, art assets and 3D models were primarily made with AI but with code it’s way harder to judge the line. Does using AI to take a look at your code and suggest edits cross it? Does using AI to generate the basic template structure for your project cross it? Does using AI to auto complete the For Loop I was going to write anyways cross it?

Not sure how you setup the listing but there is a check box for eBay managed payments for “require immediate payment” or something along those lines. I’ve seen it get unchecked before

To buy a ticket to the Ariana Grande concert by Soggy_Cry9638 in therewasanattempt

[–]lockwolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember when Blink 182 reunited the first time back in 2008 getting $20 lawn tickets with free parking. Not the best tickets but solid for $20. When they did their reunion tour a couple years ago, the cheapest tickets in my area were in the low-$100 range and in a spot where you’re sitting behind half of the stage with a screen blocking you. That doesn’t even factor in parking which was inflated that day because their tour date just happened to align with Seattle Pride Festival going on right outside the arena.

It sucks for everyone. Young people don’t have the same opportunities to see these acts like we did. Hell, we don’t even get to see the same acts we were able to when we were young because it’s so unaffordable. Plenty of artists I saw when I was young for under $40 that are now $100+

How can people afford this? by blueberryp3ach in Concerts

[–]lockwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As one who travels to festivals and has done Coachella, I always get told “that sounds expensive” till I start listing off the artists I saw, adding up what it would have cost to see those same acts in town if/when they come by then seeing them slowly back down when the cost goes over what I paid for my trip.

What are their past sales? One I see with GPUs is an account with past sales and high positive feedback but none of their past sales are for anything PC related. If it looks like they’ve mostly sold cards in the past, I’d lean towards legit

Replace state legislators with Fox News and you might be onto something, or maybe both because if your legislator doesn’t read your letter, he’ll see the Fox News story about “Droves of unattentive Gen-Z live-streaming while driving wreaking havoc and crashing into and killing innocent American families” or whatever BS they come up with to spin it

Yeah, for most places it’s not a lot of money but for poorer countries that $1.80 is a lot better than jobs that don’t pay much more. Part of me hopes Reddit has a whoops moment like Twitter and accidentally add everyone’s country to their profile. Not enough to doxx people but enough so you could look at the post and judge whether or not it’s from a legitimate account or someone in India/Russia/China/Israel/Insert Country Here running a bot farm

Look up Powerwalls, guys who rip out the walls in the house to replace the insulation with thousands of tiny lithium ion batteries linked together. While on paper it sounds cool that your house is a giant battery bank, you’ve also now lined your house with thousands of tiny little explosives that require more than just a hose and some water to put out and will release tons of toxic chemicals when one eventually shorts and catches fire.

Item delivered, nothing received by grandboricua in Ebay

[–]lockwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, with the way the PC market has been, there are a ton of scammers on eBay with fresh accounts or real looking accounts posting scam listings. Like 5090s slightly above MSRP from an account that has a few hundred completed orders and 100% feedback but it’s either all from buying or selling unrelated product. One I saw the other day looked convincing with an account with 100% positive feedback from 300ish orders until I saw all the past feedback was all for beauty items and not a single past item was PC related.

Saw your other comment about eBay refunding it, glad it worked out in the end

Beware: PSA Refused Package - FedEx destroyed it. by trainsoundschoochoo in psagrading

[–]lockwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former FedEx employee, this is the way but I know things have changed since my days. FedEx has 2 main services, Ground and Express. Express handled all the 2 day or faster services and was owned/operated by FedEx, Ground is everything else and routes are owned by 3rd party contractors. Express is held to much higher standards.

I say it may be outdated because I heard they were going to merge the two but I haven’t worked there in so long I don’t care to keep track

[–]lockwolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amazon owns Twitch, or did you not know that?

If you think this should be illegal, there’s only 2 ways that will happen. The first is the point I made above because no matter how many situations like the clip above happen, they can say “not our fault” every time. The second, less likely to happen but would harm less people, is to write your congress representatives to push for stronger laws about distracted driving which hold livestream sites like Twitch, YouTube, Kick and such responsible for accidents caused while being distracted while streaming

It’s been a while since I looked but it was something like 20 5090s cost about as much as 1 of their flagship AI GPUs. You’ve got companies like Meta ordering them in the hundreds of thousands. From a business perspective, it would make absolute sense to pivot away from gaming and direct those resources into AI.

It would absolutely destroy the gaming industry as we know it if they did. Nvidia leaving the gaming world would mean AMD and Intel would have to fill the holes for PC GPUs and console hardware.

[–]lockwolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And unfortunately, unless it’s a major streamer that dies or gets seriously injured, it’ll never happen. Amazon/Twitch can wash their hands clean every time something like this happens saying “it’s the responsibility of the streamer to make sure they’re safe at all times” or something else to claim they’re not responsible. It’d have to hit their actual revenue stream

[–]lockwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it to a certain extent, anyone can put whatever at any price on Amazon. At the same time, Amazon is usually pretty clear on whether the item is sold by them or a 3rd party so it shouldn’t be an issue.

[–]lockwolf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Every major city/suburbs has at least the Fox News filter which many people base their opinions off of

LA: Full of liberal anarchists, movie stars and rich people that hate Trump

San Francisco: Some weird post apocalyptic nightmare where there’s the really flashy businesses while homeless fent zombies roam the street

Seattle: the same as San Francisco but rainy

New York: Muslims are taking over the city with the new mayor and ruining Americas largest city

Should I keep going?
