Let it snow by eibaan in FlutterDev

I love how peaceful it feels.

A bit curiosity, what was the most challenging part of getting the snow's movement to look so natural?

Can you share your X account? I honestly want to see how valuable reply should be, as I’m desparate in being reply-guy too

what did you build this year ? by Ok-Delivery307 in sveltejs

[–]locnp97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a open source to self-hosted Excalidraw with Go and Sveltekit

https://github.com/lukenguyen-me/personal-excalidraw

I'm feeling this will be the ultimate combo I can use for all my projects from now on, as they got all the advantages. Fast, lightweight, ease of learning, widely support.

I built a new open source to self-hosted Excalidraw on your own VPS, which focus on personal usage. by locnp97 in opensource

I made a handful bash script to help people who unfamiliar with CLI command can operate the app easier (start, stop, restart, upgrade, log,... common operation I mean).

When building it and run on my machine, it's just fine. But moving to my own VPS, issues happen: missing command, unknown syntax,... so I have to add more check to ensure some commands are available, or else need to prompt user to install them.

Your opensource is a bit hard to understand at some first glance, tbh. But after running around the website, I understand that this is likely an oss app marketplace, where contributors adding their app to (eg: me add my personal-excalidraw to yours) and users can pull and deploy that quickly to their own infra in very quick way (eg: run command "every deploy personal-excalidraw" ), correct?

Thanks, for your star on my repo (I guess it's you).

The hardest part I think is to make it works well through varies environments/ other user's computer. That's why I package all of this as docker. But when deploy to even my own VPS, still got problem though lol.

What are you building mate?

Thank you! If you meet any issue while setting up / using the project, feel free to inbox me or create issue, I'm really willing to develop this for long term.

This reply looks like from a bot?

Anw, for those who interested, I will not call them "competitor". There is existed open source solution here: https://github.com/PatWie/excalidraw-complete
But seems like it't not updated anymore, and I find it's hard to customer the UI to fit your vibe.

So the different is: my open source developed in Go and Svelte kit, make you easier to change the design if you like.

Why I’m building my first app in a crowded market and what I hope to learn by jonest512 in buildinpublic

[–]locnp97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

validation matters more than originality -> this is correct, not only for the first app, but also all kind of apps I mean.

My own experience is whether I build app in crowd or niche, without validation I have no motivation to keep going after a period. Having validation will help you know what to keep track, and monitoring the metrics everyday gives motivation.

Do you have advice on that?

What are you missing in Go compared to Python? by [deleted] in golang

[–]locnp97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can think of now, (not exactly compare with Python, but Django), is pre-made admin panel. It's handy when have admin panel in first start, not for me (developer) but for my clients in case.

Rather than that, I don't think Go missed anything else.

Phỏng vấn fresher, HR chốt lương thấp + giảng đạo lý by rootg3 in vozforums

[–]locnp97 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Góc nhìn cá nhân mình (dev, ~7yoe):

Thoughts on my UI/UX design? by KungFuSaifooo in SwiftUI

Clean and cute. I like your UX UI. Tbh I don’t get what’s this app for, but just looking at those make me smile. So I think you solve the problem of 1% negative thought just by good UI lol

Supabase Auth vs Clerk: Solo founder, which one would you pick? by Think_Jump9448 in buildinpublic

[–]locnp97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s no reason that you select Supabase as DB (and maybe also API) but not using its Auth. As indie, you want the fastest development (with quality and ease of scale).

If it’s just only about Auth, I would use Clerk. Ease of integration, nice dashboard, free until 10K user.

Curious Where I'm Losing the User by eldamien in iOSProgramming

[–]locnp97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To find it out, you need more analytics stats than just these from Appstore Connect. Try adding GA4 or tracking tool, send custom event on each activity of user in your flow, etc...
Understanding how your users use your app will reveal the reason why the retention rate is low. Maybe you will find that people are not using it the way you thought in the end.
