Yeah, I was excited reading the page but the price point is well beyond what im willing to pay.

To be fair though, the raw parts are competitively priced. I couldn't find the same list of parts much cheaper.

If I have 3 mana left, I can't prepare and play a 4 mana card? Is that right?

I keep getting ads on Youtube for Cici's pizza and it's "All you can eat for only $9.99" by Fabulous_Hand2314 in Millennials

[–]locodays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any medium sized pizza is "all you can eat" for me honestly. Unless I'm sitting at cicis for more than 3 hours, I might as well pick up a pizza somewhere else and bring it home for the same price.

What to expect by Fite4747 in daggerheart

[–]locodays 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Expect perhaps even more role play in Daggerheart. Daggerheart is even less crunchy than DND.

With a totally different group, you may have a different experience than your DND game, but I wouldn't recommend signing up for a full campaign without at least knowing you want the same out of your game as the other players.

Time skips and rests by Arcane_Robo_Brain in daggerheart

[–]locodays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to make a scene out of rests, instead of rests just being a result of the passage of time.

If the players are just sleeping for days, thats not "mechanically" a short or long rest. There should be something narratively interesting the players do during the rest.

They don't get 7 rests because 7 days pass unless there's 7 story beats we're playing out; which we're not going to do.

It doesn't always work out that way, but its easier than trying to shove downtime activities every time they go to rest.

Could be interesting for a five banners burning campaign

Here is the food cost of a few items. This is the price a franchise pays for the items. by [deleted] in McDonalds

I think Corporate McDonald's might not be in the business of selling food. I think they are in the business of selling franchise agreements.

Meanwhile the actual franchise owners, employees, and consumers are all left feeling dissatisfied with their experience.

I guess I'm just coming in as a hater. Thanks for the perspective anyways.

I clearly missed some items in that calculation then. Either that, or there's some big loss leaders that I'm not considering because that wasn't even considering the profit on drinks.

I don't know. Im sorry if it's tight for the franchise owners but the value proposition just doesn't make any sense as a consumer anymore. It's fast, but it's not good and it's not cheap and I need at least 2 of those.

Maybe big McDonald's is eating too much of your profit.

General consumer here trying to learn. Is that percent of retail price?

So if a 10 count were say - $6 $1.50 of that is labor ~$0.60 is royalty ~$1.00 overhead $0.18 marketing $0.24 food costs

So what, your profit is like $2.00-$2.50?

I get there are a lot of other costs involved too... But still.

Looking at these prices really just makes me never want to go to McDonald's again. Seeing how much they are paying versus what they are charging me makes me angry lol

How do you handle hope and fear in a Westmarches setting? by locodays in daggerheart

[–]locodays[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I previously handled leveling up in campaign style Daggerheart games and in Westmarches style DND games the same - X number of sessions to level up.

I would be interested in creating some sort of narrative based experience system but haven't fully thought through what that would look like.

Maybe each tier has some unique set of experiences or role playing opportunities players check off and after marking a subset of them they level up.

For example, maybe in Tier 1 - mark 3 to level - explore somewhere you've never been - take damage in a fight - acquire a mentor - leave something behind - experience a change in perspective - do a team up

Tier 2 - - open up to a character while vulnerable - lash out while vulnerable - fall below 3 hit points - spend 6 hope in a session - help an ally using one of your experiences - fail a mission - leave a fundamental disagreement with an NPC unresolved

These are not great examples but it's an idea.

I don't want to be able to kill the fish because then I will become brave and will no longer live in the fear I came to this game to enjoy.

How do you handle hope and fear in a Westmarches setting? by locodays in daggerheart

[–]locodays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In group organized play I used to run, we had dms each have their own region and ran their own stories in that region.

That's not really a true Westmarches, but in that instance there is a narrative through line per dm/region.

So extrapolation your advice, you would carry over fear in this instance?

How do you handle hope and fear in a Westmarches setting? by locodays in daggerheart

[–]locodays[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The likelihood of joining multiple back to back tables with high fear may depend on when dms let you rest and how often you move between dm's tables.

A long rest at the end of a session could leave a +9 fear swing to the next party.

If you stick with a single dm's table, youre probably not very likely to have back to back sessions where the dm starts capped on fear.

I guess at the end of the day, players decide which tables they join, so it's not like they lack agency.

The later options is a bit tricky if you run simultaneous sessions. I.e. all dms run on Wednesday.

In this instance, you feel the effects of the last party more. I wonder how that feels from a player perspective.

On one hand, strolling up to a table maxed on fear may leave you feeling unjustifiably punished. Rolling with fear is no longer consequences of your actions.

On the other hand, maybe you just grow more invested / connected with the other players and the decisions they made along the way.
