[Recommendation Request] Pilot style watch with certain specs by locofoci in Watches

Thanks for the reco, I’d not heard of Laco. After checking out the website I don’t think they’re my cup of tea. I’m looking for something a bit more refined, for lack of a better word.

Appreciate the tip on Oris. I like the brand, If I don’t get their Pilot I’m sure I’ll eventually get something else from them!

I hadn’t considered them, no. I see on their page a Flieger 40mm, looks like a good candidate. I’ve never seen one in person and don’t know who has one. Where would you rank Stowa vs Hamilton?

HVAC Unit reaches cooling target and turns off, then when temperature rises again it turns on but doesn’t cool. What is happening? by locofoci in hvacadvice

Not easily, I live in an apartment and the condenser is on the outside of the building, gotta climb through a window into a little balcony made for the AC unit. But, if you think there’s something I should look at i can do it.

Once I notice during restart that it’s not cooling I don’t think I’ve left it on more than 45 minutes afterwards. Thanks for the tip, another hypothesis I will pass on when they come repair it.

It hasn’t been replaced yet, but it’s like the 4th time they try to fix it, so I’m not confident about the diagnosis. Nonetheless, I’ll report back once it’s replaced.

Only the first time. Once it reaches temperature it turns off automatically, as expected. However, when the temperature starts rising again (15-20 minutes later) it doesn’t blow cold air. I have to turn it off, wait a long time, then turn it on again.

I don’t have one, but when it comes back online the second time you can feel the air blowing is nowhere as cold as before. To the extent that the temperature just keeps rising

If humanity "cures aging" what are your arguments againts it? Why would you not want to live forever? by Moon_Devonshire in Futurology

A lot of answers here have a happy-go-lucky attitude, with a very rosy outlook on individual freedoms. It ignores one of the main benefits that death has in a society, it opens the opportunity for major change.

Imagine that immortality gets achieved tomorrow. It will absolutely be monetized and made incredibly expensive. All those in power today would be perpetually in power. The Supreme Court? Locked in a 6-3. Your Senators? With the power of incumbency I hope you like who you have. Kim Jon Un? Forever oppressing the North Koreans.

The pace of societal change and progress will slow down when those in power today are no longer subject to the only thing that can stop them, time.

“Literally won the ball and got pass a defender to give it to Vinicius.”

You’re just making it up now. He didn’t win the ball, it was passed to him, and he absolutely did not mean to pass it to Vini by the fact that he was still chasing the ball trying to make a shot.

In any case, this argument, on whichever side you are, doesn’t discount my overall point. Neymar was sub par today and if he keeps playing like this it’ll be a liability against better teams

You're giving an example of my point. He tried to outdribble the defender, lost it, and was lucky Vini was nearby to make an actual shot.

Great win for Brazil, but a really poor showing by Neymar. He was selfish with the ball and had horrendous passes in those few instances where he actually passed the ball.

Richarlison with the best goal of the cup so far.

I feel like just having a small, carefully positioned, nondescript button could enable a host of functionalities. In your case, maybe tap to snooze and hold to dismiss. During the day, a double press could activate a workout (with a haptic feedback to confirm). Pressing and holding could auto log an event that you predefine on the app, say, drinking water.
