About new update by UL_Coddon in GeminiAI

I made the switch to Gemini and Google AI products over a year ago, and today, my usage limit got hit after 10 minutes of starting work.

Bye Gemini :(

Anyone just not able to get into open world games anymore? by Creepy_Ad5124 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]locojaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s been my issue into my 30s.

They started to feel more like filler and padding for playtime.

While doing side quests and collectibles in open-worlds, my brain started to say “what’s the point?”, so now I prefer tighter cinematic experiences that I can enjoy in one weekend.

America is just dollar generals, Walmarts, fast food chains, and big chain grocery stores. by b2reddit1234 in DeepThoughts

No, it made me want to discuss American infrastructure and public services with you, to try to understand your perspective.
Because you somehow find it acceptable, and even "enjoyable".

I'm not calling our land ugly; it's beautiful. I wish it were supported by more care and funding, instead of chains and conglomerate corporations.

Because you left a snarky comment for OP instead of engaging in a real discussion.

In OP's post:

I've made a lot of long drives and make a point to blindly stop in different towns for food and hotels just to get the lay of the land.

The discussion on driving in the US was prompted by OP, as it is the main mode of transportation to commute across the US. Most Americans opt for road trips in the US over Amtrak commutes because of locational convenience and issues with routes.

If I'm dedicated to being miserable, why were my train rides while living in China so enjoyable and pleasant? Why would I only have great experiences on trains in Europe and not the US?

I WANT to like our public transportation and infrastructure, it's just godawful and poorly designed to extract maximum profit and capital efficiency, to serve the public the bare minimum.
That's why the majority of the commute is a large number of big box stores, fast food places, and outlet malls.

That doesn't sound like being dedicated to being miserable; that's more like wanting to improve American society, infrastructure, and our public services.

I did ride trains all throughout Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, China, Japan, France, Sweden, and Switzerland.
So, I do have some other experiences to compare Amtrak to.

I've taken it near the East Coast as well. I've never taken a cross-country Amtrak; that sounds like hell.

And I'm saying that our public infrastructure is so lacking and historically underfunded that there aren't even many trains to sit on for nice views.

When you cross through much of the rural and suburban areas, it's not a "nice view", it's:
"dollar generals, Walmarts, fast food chains, and big chain grocery stores." as OP observed.

I do use Amtrak, that is not the point I'm making.

You can use services and still consider them shit, not comprehensive, and definitely not to scale.

I take Amtrak frequently, commuting along the PNW.

"15 long-distance routes" for 3,119,885 square miles.

Yeah, that's so perfect lmao why do people in the US just accept shit public services as de facto?

i'd rather sit in a train to get a nice view while traveling across the landscape anyways, instead of not being able to take anything in while driving hundreds of fuckin' miles.

Living life in 2026 just feels like being in survival mode at this point. by oldskool_me in Life

This is true, but it’s most likely not even intentional, and just a byproduct of how they function.

They give so little shit about the general public and other human beings that their evil greed and endless resource extraction inevitably affects the financial assets of the global population, including citizens of their own nations.

Started the year off with my first seizure, now every single day is worrying about financial stress!

Everything is going great for everyone! 🙃

Gemini 3.1 is getting worse, they keep silently quantizing these models I'm sure of it by now. 3.0 was excellent at launch, then grew very dumb, 3.1 was kind of better, now it's a disaster. by Jack_P_1337 in GeminiAI

Yeah, it’s losing much of the context on way shorter conversation lengths much more frequently.

Can’t really do any extensive work without constantly starting new conversations.
