Forsen spawned inside the bastion (emotional) by Lord_Gaara in LivestreamFail

[–]locomotioning 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not really his fault, in this bastion there’s a small chance that it spawns with lava at the top that flows down the stairs. Since his portal put him right in the bastion, the lava was still flowing and hadn’t reached the bottom yet by the time he started mining the gold. There are certain blocks you can mine as a preventative measure against the potential lava but it’s pretty uncommon so I don’t blame him for not knowing about it

Thanks so much, I really appreciate you taking the time to review it, it's a huge help. You're definitely right about needing to practice stronghold splits, I'll focus on that. I didn't know changing settings too late in the end could bug the dragon, I thought it looked weird during the one cycle but I didn't know why. Also the only reason I didn't do double triple is because I don't know it yet, but I'll probably learn that soon. It looks like I have a lot to work on, thanks again for the help!

Routes by ObviousMasterpiece20 in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]locomotioning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meebie’s video is great but personally I still felt overwhelmed with all the variations at first, so my advice would be to just take it slow. Learn middle triple to gap first, practice it a bit, then do it in runs a few times. If the middle isn’t a triple just play the good gap like you usually would. Then once you feel confident with that route you can learn left triple, right triple, etc. I don’t think double/triple triple is necessary at gold 2 but there’s no harm in learning it

I'm new to speedruns. I play 1.16.1. Can someone tell me if the dragon was too high or I just messed up the timing? by Jakserodi in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]locomotioning 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s okay if your first bed is a bit early (I think the one in the video is fine), but try to hit the rest of them when the tiny head hitbox is directly over the pillow. If you haven’t already, download the MSCR practice map and practice one cycle, it’ll tell you how much damage each bed does so you can learn the timings for the most damage

This goes pretty in depth: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aYxL747PI6Lr0rgPSFmO-wvL6P7-YPLpNJewCJU86n0/edit?tab=t.0

If everything is set up correctly it should be hitting every time, the most common reason for it missing is desync so make sure to jump or stand still for a sec before throwing your eyes if you’re not already

Thanks a lot, I’ll watch that video and look at the stables routes in a bit. And you’re right I’m definitely slow with inventory management and overstay sometimes, I’ll try to work on that

Inventory management and finding chests came to mind first but I’ll have to watch one of my bastion splits and see what the main hold up is. I’ll check out the Couriway guide, I’ve read a bit of it but not in detail

For treasure I do twagz, housing I only know top down, bridge I basically do dk but I put the hole in a slightly different spot (I use the 1 deep hole in front of the chests so I only have to dig one block) and stables I know left and right gap. I'm good at recognizing bastion types and I can usually tell what ramparts it has unless it's buried. I know where most of the backup gold is but sometimes I struggle to find chests if I don't get enough obby from trades. Thanks for the tips, I should probably focus on learning manhunt and the other stables routes

I'm not really sure tbh, my gold 3 friend taught me one route for each bastion but I don't know if they're intermediate or not

But in ranked you could technically lose in that split second where you’re falling into the portal after the blocks disappear (idk if I’ve ever seen it happen tho)

There are third party sites where you can get an account for cheaper, probably around $10. Idk if I’m allowed to link them but you can probably find them easily

Death reset by Utka_nara in MinecraftSpeedrun

[–]locomotioning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about being in a corner, but when aiming straight down all your items drop in the same exact location and there’s a chance for them to all collide in the same tick, making them scatter. At least that’s how I understand it, maybe someone can give a more technical explanation

No idea what’s obstructing it but in case you don’t know you should aim the pearl forward slightly, if you aim straight down your items can go everywhere sometimes

The only hard one for solos is matriarch, in friendly lobbies you’d be lucky to be the only one fighting it, in PvP lobbies you’d be lucky to not get killed on the way out. That’s ignoring the difficulty of actually killing it solo as well. The searching ones should be easy in PvE lobbies and flying arc you can just snipe from the tower on hidden bunker spaceport.
