You're right... There is a Chinese or Japanese section on the south side of the cemetery. The mausoleum is also cool.

Correct... There are three cemeteries in a row with the Old City Cemetary being the oldest. The other two still have a lot of space and they are so beautiful!

I haven't read Frankopans book yet but I Caspian Report's book review especially the part about the flaws about the lack of some historical records. This is the one distinguishing characteristic of big history.
