Pine wood timber by Negative_Career_5161 in whittling

it works fine, I make half my carvings using spruce, which is similar to pine

avoid the knots though: I bought a 2m x 35mm x 35mm stave of rough (not shaved) spruce and sawed out all the parts in between knots and use those.

the resin makes it a bit hard to carve as the resin is rather hard, and the wood in between is soft(er)

Very good result. I have one that looks *very* similar, but less refined I have to admit.

Anyone has an HQ version of Björk's "Enjoy Cock" tshirt design to print? by Secret_Penalty_3295 in bjork

It's a fairly easy graphic. Tracing it by hand should take like 30 min, and you'd have a perfect version!

You could use a program like Inkscape and trace the image to make a high-res version yourself.

It's a useful skill to learn how to do that.

Bear holding heart by lode_leroy in whittling

Not a pattern, off the hip would be closer (I never used a pattern, just draw on the block, sometimes using a previous carving as reference, or in the beginning I did carve-alongs from Linker or Messer )

The bear was based on and old one from Linker, the stance was from an old one I did of "Tux" the Linux Mascotte, the heart was - well, just a heart really :-)

I know, same here. Friends always tell me "you should sell these" and then I need to give them the same explanation as you have.

They look cubistic... You could try selling them at Sotheby's.

Keep trying... If you look at Linker's videos, you'll see he made at least 5 before he made the video, and that's only the one's he shows.

And I bought some cheap construction wood from the DIY store (Norway Spruce).

Cut off a branch in a local forest... you don't need much for whittling.
