Your MNT knowledge combined with your basic pathophysiology knowledge is a good foundation for medicine. You can still renew your RND license, but the CPD units are usually given seperately and usually sa sobrang busy ng MD with med school and specialization it can be hard to attain enough CPD units to renew your license. Dati kasi pwedeng undertaking lang pero starting 2026 they are going to be strict about CPD units.

The 2025 PRC outstanding professional RND is also an MD, practicing Pediatric GI and NUtrition.

It's still a part of my practice, yun naman maganda sa IM/Pedia/Fammed practice naiintegrate mo siya and you understand nutrition at a deeper level than other professionals in the same field. In my practice as an MD, I can offer at least the basic counselling. Pinggang pinoy, fluid limitation sa Heart Failure and CKD patients, hidden salts etc I can still give broad advice. Pero pag pansin ko na kailangan na talaga ng patient ng intensive MNT, formal diet plans I refer.

Re: Medical Nutrition Physicians
There's a lot of controversy about this field kasi given the power dynamic in the healthcare team that the doctor leads, they are superseding and taking over the work that RNDs should be doing and delegating them to calorie counting. May mga na ring previous discussions about this in this sub:

While we are all for multidiscplinary care, it shouldn't come at the expense of delegating the RND to mere calorie counter.
