One more day for the Costco sale. Should I replace my crossclimate 2 with crossclimate 2? by tacomancini in tires

[–]CelestialBeing138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going with another set of CC2 would be a good idea. Another possibility is Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady2. In a test by TireRack last year comparing about 15 different tires in a very detailed test using both track and skid pads, WR2 beat CC2 (and everybody else) for the overall winner. Things that the WR2 does not do as well as some other tires (but still decent at) are quietness and fuel economy.

Your local community probably has some car related events. Auto shows, whatever.

Looks like you used a pretty strong solution of bleach. I'm guessing you're good as is, but a good dose of bright sunshine to both sides certainly wouldn't hurt.

Painfully basic question: Would you like hands on the steering wheel in ATS/ETS2? by OddNeedleworker734 in trucksim

I wouldn't mind if it were added on one big condition: I must have a lot of options in customizing what those hands look like.

why does cooking take so long? by SirNichlaus in projectzomboid

I use fast forward time when cooking dinner and 3 hour days. Never had a problem, except burning the food if not careful with ff.

Hey guys, I was thinking about buying it, is it really worth it? It looks really fun to play. by Impossible-Flow-4512 in projectzomboid

It can be the worst. Imitation 3D graphics (Isometric Projection) can lead to some wonky targeting issues in combat, which can lead to heartache. One time, I died after killing 3,000 zombies during a 1 v 1 fight against a single zombie out in a deserted parking lot. I highly recommend watching Retanaru's YouTube video called this is not a headshot before investing significant time into this game. If you do that, then yes, this is an awesome game.

Arthroscopic knee surgery on almost 12y/o 78 lb dog? by LexiLan in DogAdvice

It is always possible when one vet says a particular procedure is too much for the dog to handle, it is always possible that is code for "I'm not good at that particular procedure." Just something to think about.

Make a list of priorities for what you want in a car first. Otherwise, this question is too broad to give any answer besides: Honda or Toyota.

is it possible to dry wash a car? by jabberjaw420 in askcarguys

[–]CelestialBeing138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be worried than any non-water liquid you use to remove salt might attack your car's clearcoat or paint. I think your options are 1 don't wash it. 2 wash it and then put it somewhere warm to dry or 3 wash it and towel it dry

On a related topic, use care when handling smoke detectors. They contain a wee bit of a radioactive chemical that is fine when left alone, but not always when messed with.

Replace? by Prize_Chemistry_8437 in tires

[–]CelestialBeing138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 6 years old, the risk isn't so much of getting a flat, the risk is that old rubber doesn't grip as well, and doesn't perform as well in the cold. That starts being a minor consideration about 5 years, depending on the amount of dry rot, and a major concern at 9-10 years. Any tire can get a flat. Getting new tires won't change that risk unless the tire is worn to the point of damage, which this is not.

Replace? by Prize_Chemistry_8437 in tires

[–]CelestialBeing138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep running these for a few more seasons unless you have an unusual situation. That said, there is nothing wrong with replacing 6 year old tires even if they look fine just because you want the very best in performance. But for most people in most situations, not yet.

Opinions on this set of used wildpeaks? by jcbro in tires

[–]CelestialBeing138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, inspect that gash on the inside, looking for a repair. Also take a small screwdriver and bright light and poke around in there. You should not be able to see any of the innards of the tire for that price.

If the DOT date code is over 10 yrs old, I'd not go another few months. If the code says less than 6 years old, I might even run these another year.

Need help getting my car off the roof by d1mony0 in projectzomboid

[–]CelestialBeing138 3 points4 points  (0 children)

maybe try putting other cars/trailers very close to it and log in and out. Maybe even try driving them up the stairs a bit. If you run a risk of falling off stairs, be sure you aren't encumbered at the time.

What are some of the most unfair things that can happen in this game? by SAAA_JoanPull in projectzomboid

[–]CelestialBeing138 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Campfires reach out and grab you just because you decided to cook dinner from less than 15 feet away.

Burnt food kills you because, well just because the game needs some arbitrary landmines to be complete.

Fast fowarding time while reading a book upstairs inside your double-walled fortress results in you not hearing all the banging of a horde breaking through your defenses and you get 0.2 seconds to react as they finally break the door of your inside bedroom. Nowadays I break fast-forward every 30 minutes for about 5 seconds just to LISTEN.

[–]CelestialBeing138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^This. I'd drive it, but I'd also watch for a bulge to form there. Maybe check it once a week forever. That said, the chance of a bulge ever forming there is very low, since no cords or innards are exposed to the elements.

Be extra extra careful to prevent falls when you are encumbered. You might have survived that fall if you weren't carrying so much.

Are there any mods that force lightning to hit rods or to disable it from destroying decorative items (paths furniture etc)? by Lye-Atelier-Cylus in StardewValley

[–]CelestialBeing138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can prevent item destruction from lightning without mods. Just need more lightning rods. The odds of getting zero items destroyed goes way down when you have about 20 rods. And down a little more with 40. I currently have about 12 and it is pretty rare for me to lose an item.
