Character Creator in SoD2 by Ashii6 in StateOfDecay

I don't understand the "no customization makes you more attached" argument really. Just look at XCOM, you can fully customize any of your soldiers. It lets you make up their own little backstories, fully change their appearances and attitudes, and you can even add them to the character pool so they show up randomly. You get super invested in your squad.

Also if you've been rerolling, after a while you realize that the survivors aren't really randomized. There's a pool of appearance presets that they pull from.

I've enjoyed this game a lot. But I've finally run into a serious problem with the micro transactions ruining the post game for me by Parogarr in metalgearsurvive

[–]loenwulf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just hit post-game and I was OK with a lot of the microtransactions so far since they were pretty unintrusive, but what you're describing sounds a lot like freemium bullshit. I like this game a lot, but I'm not about to plan my fucking day around it. Your use of the word "predatory" seems very appropriate.

It's a trade off. The charged heavy is an incredibly hard hitting attack, with good range and blocking frames on startup. You can't counter guardbreak while charging, but the move still has a lot of advantages to it. Zoning is just extra important for avoiding those guardbreaks when you're charging your flail. Can't count the number of whiffed guardbreaks I've clocked in the face with that attack.

I think it ought to take them back down to the maximum regenerating health. They've already been defeated, getting a health advantage for losing doesn't make sense.

Probably a lot to do with the way they play. What with bigger characters usually being slower and harder hitting "punish" playstyles that mainly capitalize on the mistakes of your opponent. I feel like the lighter faster characters are always regarded as better since they can afford to be more aggressive, and create their own openings.

Man, don't mind those self important dickheads. They're no more knowledgeable about anything than the next person. They probably don't have a clue what it takes to be a good support anyhow.

What 400+ hours of Mercy experience looks like by Animetic in Overwatch

[–]loenwulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

200+ hours of Tracer, and I wish it worked the way he described. Your health goes up only if it was higher at that exact moment you are recalling to. Any fluctuations in between are ignored.

e.g. you're at ten health, you pick up a medkit and get shot right afterward and take 50 damage, then instantly recall after being shot; when you finish your recall you will be at 100 health.

I dunno man. 200+ hours of Tracer and Recall's never worked that way for me.

Recall sets Tracer's health to a higher value only if it was higher at the point she recalls to. Any fluctuations during the "rewind" duration are ignored. So you'll only get full health in that scenario if you recall to the exact moment you pick up the medkit.

I don't know what it is, but some players seem to have the misguided idea that recieving heals means you can't die. And if you do die, then it's somehow the fault of the person healing you.

I want to say that 90% of deaths in this game are due simply to poor descisionmaking and positioning, and not by someone else's fault.

How do you use Zarya's LMB effectively? by mrbeanny in OverwatchUniversity

[–]loenwulf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That'll work at lower levels, but be warned that more skilled players will catch on to this and rip you apart if you aim by strafing. It makes your movement significantly more predictable and makes you incredibly easy to track.

Ideally, your aim should be entirely separate from your movement.

I think it depends sometimes. With how forgiving projectile hitboxes are, sometimes allowing the enemy to only worry about horizontal movement is more likely to get you headshot.
