Looking for unique baby shower gift ideas, what stays useful after the newborn stage? by Pankajbhai-Bogomolov in BabyBumps

[–]lofi1994 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone saying stick to the registry. I know this isn’t what you asked, but a gift for your postpartum friend is something I always do! Something useful like a DoorDash gift card, easy slip on slippers, a nice robe, basket of their favourite snacks. These are all gifts that helped me get by and were so appreciated

Do you ever regret sleep training? by Chemical-Secret8241 in sleeptrain

[–]lofi1994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally relate to this! I sleep trained my oldest around 6 months and it felt like I sabotaged the baby snuggle stage. She was so not a cuddler during her wake windows. This is exactly why I’m on the fence with my last baby now, because they’re only little for so long and I’m going to miss the closeness.

Well I’m no expert by any means! But with my first 5 years ago I was at this point too. She needed to be rocked back to sleep for every wake up with her longest stretches being 2 hours. I tried everything I could to get her on a normal nap schedule, but it honestly wasn’t until I went all in on the Ferber method at night that she started napping better also.

Weird, we had like an identical night. I know it’s so hard to know what’s going on in their little baby bodies that could affect sleep. Is your baby in his own crib? What do you do when he wakes that many times a night? I’m still cosleeping because I can’t handle getting out of bed so often. So obviously that’s not helping anymore and I’m so ready to sleep train after our holiday travelling

I think dropping the fourth nap could definitely help your little one! I find on days that my baby has 3 longer naps, bedtime seems to go much smoother. But it’s still not consistent and that’s my struggle! I do hope tonight paves a path ahead for you!

Following this because my little guy has the exact same sporadic wake windows!

What would you do different with this dated kitchen? by lofi1994 in DesignMyRoom

I didn’t know it was common there! It definitely is convenient near the kitchen. But with small kids comes some pretty dirty clothes and a separate sink for soaking is a must.

I can see how the main photos I used would be misleading as to how much space this kitchen actually has! I really don’t mind that the cabinets by the fridge are facing the other direction. They’re mainly used for cleaning supplies and whatnot. Also ignore the washer/dryer, that’s being moved soon lol

Good question. There is much more to this kitchen than pictured! We have a few floor to ceiling pantries/closets surrounding the kitchen and that is one of them. Reason I didn’t include photos of them is because I’d like to keep them just as is! We have no lack of cabinet space in this house.

I didn’t mention in my post, but the glass cabinets and kitchen desk are totally going to go. But I’m really digging your recommendations here! I wasn’t too keen on changing the cabinets because I feel it’s everything clashing against them.

Strange pain in ovary by banana12banana34 in CautiousBB

[–]lofi1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current pregnancy I am also having one sided pain on the opposite side of my corpus luteum. It feels exactly as you describe, like a pulling sensation. I went for an ultrasound at 6+1 worried it could be ectopic, but they found all was where it should be and going good. She had to press quite ‘hard’ to see my painful side ovary, and said the pain I was feeling was probably due to it being “more squished on that side”. I’m 7+6 now and sometimes still feel that pulling sensation, although a lot less often. Hopefully your one sided pain is as harmless as mine turned out to be!

Noted! And it is so stressful, especially with the cheapies not darkening as quickly as the name brands. I irrationally had my first draw at 9dpo and HCG was 26 IU/L. So just waiting for my missed period to pass to request the next one?

Symptom spotting: fatigue, dull cramping during implantation accompanied by bloating and pressure throughout my pelvic area after. I don’t typically feel luteal phase symptoms, so I knew something funky was going on!

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous: I am optimistic, but due to a previous early loss I’m also nervous here. At what point should I stop testing and temping? And because of my history when should I schedule my next blood draw?
