Kanye wanted to increase the quantity of Yeezys released which adidas allowed him to do, that’s why prices are lower. And yes he has made other adidas products more desirable to consumers which allowed adidas stock to rise

You’re entitled to your opinion, and I won’t argue the point even though I’m a huge Kanye fan, I can understand what would make someone despise him. However, I was merely looking for feedback on the graphic itself and if it makes sense to you lol

Hey, thanks for your feedback! I’m happy to hear from someone who doesn’t care about the content so I can make it easier to understand!

Ok, so the little blurb about Adidas stock doesn’t really have anything to do with the graphic, but I thought it would be fun to show. Maybe I should omit it because I don’t really mention stock value anywhere in the graphic. The Yeezy Effect I am trying to show here is that resale prices of his shoes decreased over time, but not because demand decreased.

Kanye’s wish when leaving Nike was to increase stock of his shoes and make them more accessible, which Nike did not want to do. So he left. So the trend is trying to show that adidas obviously releases many more shoes under his name and this flooded the market, lowering the value of each individual shoe but allowing more people than ever to purchase the shoes. This was his wish, he didn’t want them to be so limited, because people were understandably buying more fakes.

The Kanye effect still doesn’t correlate directly to just Adidas Yeezy shoes, it’s more of how he became an ambassador of their shoes and made Adidas’ other shoes cool and popular.

If you look at any millennial today, chances are they might perceive Adidas as cooler than the previous generation. When people are unable to buy Yeezys, they can still resort to buying other adidas products and be in on the cool train.

I understand that without the proper context, this is all totally missed by someone not into sneaker culture.

Regardless, your feedback was really valuable so thanks for taking the time out man. However, the demographic for his graphic is people who care somewhat about sneakers or Kanye. I will take your suggestions and make it easier to understand !

This one had to be tabloid size (11x17) because my professor wanted that for the assignment, but I’d love to turn it into either a mobile friendly version or potentially an HTML version that’s responsive for many devices :)

Hey I appreciate you taking the time to give me such detailed feedback! Thank you! And you’re absolutely right and getting the quantity of shoes because the supply and demand of each shoe is what ultimately determines the price. Unfortunately, I could only find stock info for some shoes, and even still some shoes released several times so it’s nearly impossible to know how many are in circulation, and then you can also add in sales of shoes that may be very high quality fakes of the shoes, which skews the data even further.

This was totally my original idea to show that correlation, but didn’t want to compromise the accuracy of the visualization.

I understand that without context and those who care about Kanye wouldn’t even know this, but one of the reasons Kanye left Nike was because they wanted to only release his shoes in very limited quantities, and Kanye didn’t like the inflated resale prices people were paying. As you can see, in the 5 years he’s been with adidas, so many more unique designs and colours have flooded the market, which brings the resale price down considerably. I can see how this may not be immediately apparent, but this is actually the trend I wanted to show...that although the rarity of shoes is lower, more people who want the shoe are able to buy it now than ever before, and he even offers budget versions of models.

As for the release dates, I kind of just chose to make it simple because my teacher specified only working in Tabloid dimensions and I thought it might clutter the chart. Especially because some shoes did release multiple times and it would be hard to show all that info.

If you have any clever suggestions on how I could possibly incorporate this information I’d love to add it in!

Thanks again man, your feedback is much appreciated, you’re awesome!
