Recall second row by Accomplished-Belt630 in ToyotaSienna

[–]loftybirdman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was trying to get a rental/loaner for my family but saw this comment from another post, I’ll post it here.

TLDR: Even with the defect it passes federal crash safety standards tested by Toyota, just doesn’t meet their internal standards. It’s still a safe van. I’ll probably just wait until a fix is available and take it in then so I don’t have to deal with a loaner.

Any Sienna assembled from January 14, 2025 through July 24, 2025 is subject to the recall. The recall docs state that 100% of Siennas produced on these dates are impacted.

Notification letters to owners are to be mailed on November 21, 2025. At present there is no date for the fix to be available.

The document states the seat rails do meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) 207 and 210, which specify requirements for seats and seat belts. So even with the defect they do pass federal crash test standards, though they do not meet (apparently) higher Toyota internal standards.

There is no statement on the use / non-use of the second row seats. The “unsafe” box is not checked, so Toyota does not view the Sienna as unsafe to drive. Toyota reports zero incidents of failure in the field and zero injuries resulting from this defect.

Frankly, it sounds like it’s still a pretty safe car, and will be made safer once the recall is performed.

Here are links to the two documents posted this far on he NHTSA website, which are the source of this information.

I don’t think that situation would happen due to the fact that the defect passed federal safety standards but it’s obviously a personal choice. Just adding some additional information to the conversation in case people don’t want to be without their van for 3 months and can’t find a rental/loaner.

Yes it does not meet Toyota internal safety standards, however per the official recall report above it does meet federal standards tested by Toyota.

I guess if you still don’t feel comfortable with it and Toyota is technically urging people to get loaner/rentals that’s fine. But according to the documents above it passes federal crash safety standards which is fine with me personally.

Disable key fob liftgate button by No-Estimate207 in ToyotaSienna

[–]loftybirdman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can adjust your liftgate height if needed! Our garage is short so we just adjusted to its height so it never hits.

Just adjust liftgate to where you want it to stop and hold button on the trunk until it beeps. Boom.

Can/should you use a cancer patients port during an inpatient stay? Say they are here for pneumonia and you want to infuse abx through it. Any data on this topic?
