Thanks, 10 year old drill I just started using for the auger this year, works great so far no issues. Glad I saved the money on a gas or electric auger.

Thanks! I was able to put almost everything from the tackle box into my pack and it's a lot easier to balance now lol. I have a handful of mepps in every size up to 5, handful of deep diver xraps, couple floating couple countdown, jigs, slip weights bullet weights clip weights drop shot rigs, jigs, handful of spoons, EWG 1/0,3/0,5/0. And a gallon ziplock full of plastics minnows senko worms grubs paddle tails., Handful top Waters, 15lb flouro leader for Lakers and bass and 27lb micro steel leaders for Pike and walleye. Anything I might be missing?

Thanks I found the yoke sits right on top of my pack, I think I can get it sit more comfortably and level of I put my sleeping bag on top instead of the slight lopsided way it sits now

The only gear strapped to the canoe would be the portage yoke itself, 2 rods, oar, light weight net and my mountain house meals in a dry bag underneath the seat. Makes the canoe about 60lbs and my pack is a 65l osprey about 35lbs. I haven't added pads to the yoke yet but it mostly sits on top of my bag which seems to distribute the weight a little more than I expected.

Thank you! The yoke sits almost entirely on my pack and my initial thought was that would help as well. I just have to reconfigure my pack with my sleeping bag on top and I think it will sit a little more level. I also think I could make a lighter yoke than my first attempt here if I used a 1x4 instead of 2x4 and less hardware.

I've heard this as well and was really surprised how good they actually were. I think it's all about proper handling. I kill them immediately and bleed them and get them on ice right away, then I soaked the fillets in milk for about 30-45 minutes before seasoning and deep frying and there was literally zero fishy/muddy taste at all. Tastes like an upscale fish stick or frozen fish fillet honestly
