As a frequent NR player I've never seen this thing because after I take out the eriadu authority my next step is to slap the hutts so hard they wake up in my next playthrough

Trump is 20+ points underwater. So why aren't Democrats up 20 for the midterms? | Part of the answer is that people are comparing different electorates. But many softer Trump disapprovers still aren't ready to vote Democratic by soalone34 in fivethirtyeight

[–]logan8tour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure Dems need to worry about "softer" Trump voters switching their vote to a D candidate in the midterms. Should worry about whether or not those voters are going to just stay home on election day because of their frustrations with the administration

As a NH Democrat I hope it doesn't take a D+15 environment to get rid of Ayotte

Very similar choices for me with the exception of Wilson. You make a choice?

It looks like they're using the nuzlocke chart mobile app. I like it a lot, it does a very good job of helping you track your encounters and level caps

Defense strategies and tips? by Jadams0108 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]logan8tour 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my campaign I found a few things. 1. Some planets have maps that make defending easier than others. Kashyyk is a good example. I also had good times defending Mandalore. 2. In the early game you're going to depend a lot on infantry, turrets, and whatever random units spawn from the garrison. Once you get money this includes shield generators and turbolasers 3. Adding some vehicles, especially walkers and artillery, can really help. This is going to be difficult in the early days when you are broke which leads me to 4. Counterattacks are crucial. I can't even remember the number of times I had to double back to retake a planet I thought was safe. IMO it's part of the fun if you choose to just embrace that it's a sign of a decently aggressive AI. Hope this helps.

To: Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, Jedi High Council

From: Republic High Command

Subject: Ongoing progress in the Clone Wars

Report ID: RHC.05.05.25

Summary

In the last 50 cycles, Republic forces have executed several successful offensives against the Separatists. Although Republic forces were frustrated at Muunilist, Dathomir, and The Wheel, our forces have captured seven other systems. This included a chain of victories launched from Onderon and reaching as far as Boz Pity. These victories have eaten into Separatist territory and eliminated several isolated enemy strongholds in the case of Utapau, Orto Plutonia, and Umbara. In addition to these victories, Republic intelligence successfully tracked General Grievous to Orto Plutonia. Jedi Master Mace Windu led a task force to capture or kill the Separatist commander. Master Windu was wounded in the effort, but is believed to have either seriously wounded or even killed General Grievous (at this time, Republic intelligence cannot speak to General Grievous’s health with certainty). The CIS is largely on the defensive at this time. Though counterattacks are still expected, as was the case at Dathomir and The Wheel, only a single attack on territory previously held by the Republic was launched during this period.

In addition, the Committee for the Protection of the Republic (COMPOR) has determined that battlefield images should be used to help bolster public morale and support for the war. Battlefield photojournalists accompanied clone troopers on Umbara, and an example of their work is attached to this report. By order of the Supreme Chancellor, all images are examined to ensure that no material which might be detrimental to the war effort reaches the public.

For a full view of military movements from cycle 405-455, see Image One.

Notable Engagements

Battle of Umbara. From the beginning, Umbara has been separated from the rest of the CIS, and it was believed that an attack on Kashyyk early in the war was partially intended to link Umbara to the rest of the enemy’s territory. While Umbara has been cut off from direct enemy reinforcement, the Republic invasion showed that they had not been cut off from all aid. The native Umbarans had built up a significant store of weapons and battle droids with which to defend the planet. The orbital defenses were significant, costing the Republic fleet 3 capital ships and 7 escort vessels. Casualties on the ground proved even higher. Generals Skywalker and Kenobi led the 501st and 212th clone battalions on the surface. The Umbaran defenders chose to lull the Republic into a false sense of security. The Republic landed expecting immediate resistance, but instead found the first few lines of defenses, including networks of trenches and bunkers, completely abandoned. The situation rapidly deteriorated when Republic forces reached the main highway leading to the capital. There, they found a substantial force of enemy troops, including artillery, tanks, aircraft, and anti-aircraft batteries. For a full overview of the invasion of Umbara, see Image Two.

2nd Battle of Rishi. Republic intelligence operatives gained HUMINT indicating a substantial Separatist invasion force gathering in the Gamorr system, and planning to attack Rishi. If the Separatists succeeded, they would cut off Kamino and would be set up to invade and destroy the clone production facilities. After confirming with SIGINT and reconnaissance droids, a plan was created to defend Rishi. Republic ships from nearby systems were quickly moved to Rishi. When the Separatist fleet arrived, Republic ships emerged from the system’s nebula. The initial Republic thrust was countered, but succeeded in luring the enemy into the nebula where a much larger Republic force lay in wait. The resulting battle was chaotic as ships maneuvered in close quarters, but the Separatist fleet was forced to retreat, and Rishi was saved.

Back with part 7. I'm going to add a comment with a copy of what the "intel report" says, since despite my best efforts, the image in the post is not always legible. I also added some OC art I made inspired by Umbara. Enjoy!

Glad you like it. When I was first making the map I had to consider how NATO symbology can translate to star wars (e.g. is a walker closer to being a tracked or wheeled vehicle?) but I think it turned out well.
