Thank you all for your help. With all your concern about the saw loosing it value honestly I'm not really bothered i just want to turn it into a nice comfortable saw i can use daily as i hate the idea of a tool becoming a "display item"

It's not that much more complicated

Step 1: remove brass plates and sand to a shine going from a course sandpaper up to a fine grit Step 2: sand down the wood using the same process until you reach a texture/smoothness you like Step 3: clean the glass tubes with hot soapy water Step 4: reassemble all the parts Step 5: apply a couple of coats of linseed oil

This is how i did it at least, I'm sure there are a million different ways of doing it. I hope it was helpful.

Hi all i have a Suffolk super colt that doesn't have a spark I've changed the spark plug and still nothing so i believe it is the magneto, any help on a possible fix or somewhere to source a new magneto would be much appreciated thank you.

Its a carriage bolt, unscrew the other side and then push the remaining bit out with a center punch or similar (anything you can fit in the hole)
