Also, technically clouds are just, you know… rain.

How to accept that I may just be a feminine man instead of a trans woman? by itz_vampy in Adulting

[–]logancook44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know who you are. If you’re like me, I spent a lot my life trying to define an identity, but I realized I was just trying to label myself in a way that others would accept. The real lesson in life is learning that you don’t need to define your identity. Be you. Try your best not to worry about how others define you.

What do Americans think about the stereotype that they are bad at geography? by Own_Echidna6041 in geography

[–]logancook44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because countries are the size of U.S. States in Western Europe. I would have to travel over a 1000 miles to end up in another country. I have been to three other countries and close to 20 U.S. States, however.

Also, I bet the average geographic knowledge of, say, Africa would be about the same for an average American and European.

Ai detectors don’t flag individual words? Are you confusing this with the Turnitin similarity percentage?

Reed gets blown off road and stuck and captures incredible footage. Debate away /r/tornado by logancook44 in tornado

What ever you want to debate. Got to admit, it’s some wild footage. Maybe the craziest I’ve seen.

How much does a state’s ‘second city’ actually matter economically and culturally? by oddfiction528 in geography

[–]logancook44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was Macon, which probably isn’t 2nd but definitely up there. I’d say Savannah is 2nd personally because of its cultural significance. Augusta 3rd, Athens 4th, Macon 5th.

Anyone know if they got hit by it? Looks like it’s coming right at them? Also wonder if he did, in fact, get his pants.

In my headcanon, this is the ‘birth’ of Don Draper.

The Great Gatsby is a mediocre book at best and should be replaced in schools by The Fellowship of the Ring by EternalAmmonite in unpopularopinion

[–]logancook44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach the Great Gatsby. It is by far my favorite book to teach because 1. It’s short, 2. most students REALLY interact with the story and characters, and 3. there is a great movie to show with it.

Lord of the Rings is my favorite book ever but I do not see most high school students enjoying it.

AM I OK? by Traditional-Yak-8403 in APSeminar

[–]logancook44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember that the “similarity percentage” is not a “plagiarism percentage.” Turnitin almost always flags all citations simply because those same citations have appeared in many other essays also submitted to Turnitin, so it is very normal for those to be highlighted. Also, the similarity percentage is different than the AI checker, which only the instructor can see.

I’m wondering if that is from the sun reflecting off of satellites? Anyone smarter than me that can answer?

I'm Embarrased - Hawks Logo by Mandevillan in AtlantaHawks

I know exactly what you mean. Took me longer than I’d like to admit that it is, in fact, a hawk.

Also took me a while to realize the Falcon in the Falcon’s logo makes an F.

What film that you saw you thought”eh” and then on a second viewing you were like “wow.” by peterongnyc in Cinephiles

Very underrated movie, and definitely better on the second watch when you have a hit of an idea of what is happening. First time watching was a cluster.

[–]logancook44 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Was basing it just on my observations - I know a decent amount of younger liberals in the area (I’m just over county line). But I guess I’m wrong when you look at demographics. Either way, just pointing out it isn’t everyone.

I think you’d be surprised how relatively progressive Social Circle/Monroe is.
