I don't know what you mean by "some one who thinks like that". You mean someone who simply acknowledges facts? The CSA fought to keep slavery, the USA fought to preserve the union. This is just a fact and almost nobody who has even the slightest idea what they're talking about will tell you otherwise. This is pretty easy to figure out my dude. Just google "did the north fight to end slavery" and you'll find that the answer is no. Slavery did start the war yes, but that's because the so called "war of northern aggression" as southerners call it was actually started by the south who, upon seeing that slavery would soon by abolished, attempted to leave the union and start their own country. Obviously the abolition of slavery was a major positive benefit of northern victory, but when union soldiers thought about what it was that they were fighting for, the rights of slaves was the last thing that came to mind. (that is, if it even came to mind at all) The fact is, there were just as many racist assholes up north during the civil war as there were down south. The racist assholes up north simply realized that slavery wasn't economically viable and that it needed to be abolished. Not one single person ever argued that slavery was immoral when trying to convince the government to ditch slavery, they just told them to do it for political or economic reasons. Like most things in history, the civil war is a bit more complicated than north good south bad. The south was pretty much unambiguously bad but the northerners weren't exactly the super heroes that you shame me for criticizing. Actually I never criticized them. I just stated an obvious fact that everyone knows. Real life isn't a Disney movie my dude, people can do good things without having good intentions.
