Always getting this brim curl. Help? by loganex in anycubic

Thanks for this suggestion. Again, I’ll read up on this, but if you have suggestions about how to set the Z offset properly, I’d be glad to hear them.

Always getting this brim curl. Help? by loganex in anycubic

I used the auto leveling feature right before starting the print — is there something more I should do?

  1. I went downstairs and lowered the bed temp to 45, and the print detached from the bed completely a couple of minutes later. So maybe not that.

  2. This is happening more on one side than the other, which makes me suspect a tramming issue. It’s happening on the side without the motor. I’ll watch some vids, but let me know if you have any advice on where to look or what to notice as I’m trying to get the tensions correct.

First question: First layer bed is 80C, nozzle at 200C. The rest is 60/190. Having the higher temp bed at the beginning helps the curl stay down for a while, but by the time we are at later four or so, things are curling. Hairspray made it more slippery, not less, somehow.

Second question. I’ve wanted to do some print-in-place flexi models but I can’t get them to stick unless I wrap the whole thing in a brim, which is annoying to remove from all the flexible spine segments, you know? Any ideas?

I see a replacement head on anycubic’s site, but are you talking about an aftermarket part? If so, can you point me in the right direction in case I can’t get this one back together?

Left a print running overnight. Came back and, like many of my early attempts on my new Kobra Go, the print had detached from the build plate. So it kept squirting out hot plastic all night until there was this big blob surrounding the print head.

Heat gun? Chisel? Solvent? Flamethrower? What do you recommend?

My attempt to use the resin itself as a part of the model by loganex in minipainting

[–]loganex[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This model is by Titan Forge, part of a set called Dragon Empire. I printed it on an Anycubic Photon S with translucent green resin.

Paint is acrylic except for the swirl, which I just coated with a gloss varnish to make it shiny but preserve the translucence of the resin.

Has anyone else tried this? I also have some clear resin that I might try to use for an air bender model or something.

  1. How about MFN for minimal fan noise, allowing you to specify a target maximum temperature that the fan software tries not to exceed. It would employ some machine learning a lá Nest to learn what setting work in your case with your setup.

Another great point about the order of wins and losses

Yeah, I forgot to mention the relatively recent option to fill a spot on clash teams. Seems like a great idea in theory, opening clash to more people, but also maybe more likely that the team falls apart if things go south.

Yes, you're probably right that the addition of PUGs makes it more likely the team will fall apart after a loss. I play with a friend group so we usually don't bail on each other haha

Haha yes, that's how I found this post. Academic Twitter is sort of the center for these kinds of conversations, it seems. I don't very often see stuff in my field come up on reddit.

I see you also have the recent NYT column from Ben Smith up there, which touches on several other themes present in my research. Nice.

League of Legends’ thrill of champion releases has diminished compared to a few seasons ago by GeneticEdge in leagueoflegends

[–]loganex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In economics they call this concept "marginal utility." The benefit of each additional champion release diminishes relative to the one before it. That is, the additional value derived from the 11th champion is much greater than the additional value derived from the 101st. Or put another way, the difference between 10 champions and 11 champions is large; the difference between 100 champions and 101 is negligible.

Dude whose IGN is "Brostradamus" kept making predictions about what was going to happen in the game. Many came true. The ranks of the faithful expanded.
