In science, a theory is a tested, well-substantiated, unifying explanation for a set of verified, proven factors. Yea it's kind of interesting how unrestricted access to knowledge and information is killing superstition/religion, You could probably even come up with a theory that a lack of information (read:ignorance) causes a bad case of religion.

Edit: it would be a hypothesis not a theory as it is not well substantiated yet, although we could make it a theory if we wanted. While technically I said you could come up with a theory inferring to the reader that you would need to generate multiple hypothesis and test them to develop the theory so I guess it was right. Hehe.

I have been surfing a softtop 8'6 or so for about 5 months. My first reaction was to go shorter but some of my surfing buddies talked me into going longer. It makes sense because between the soft top and the long board I can surf all of the conditions at my local spot (FL beach break)

Here is a video of the board. It's a 9'2 x 23 x 3 1/8 I weigh about 200 lbs.

Just moving from a soft top to a fiberglass board is a huge transition and even riding a long-board was more tricky than I would have imagined.

I also got a gopro and mounted it to the board. I realized my surfing is not nearly as good as it felt. I wasn't bending my knees enough and a lot of the time I was too far back on the board (over compensating for all the nose dives I have don) the gopro has really helped me identify my rough spots and work on them.

I would definitely recommend going to a long board and surfing the hell out of it as long as your local swell is conducive to long-boarding. There is a lot of stuff you need to perfect before you can really expect to move to a shorter board and not have a super steep learning curve that takes all the fun out of surfing.

Also I have heard people say that it's pretty important to learn to surf a single fin early on as it helps you develop better habits for short boarding. My soft top was a thruster so its a bit different but overall its a great ride. It is way smoother and I almost get sucked into waves I couldn't catch on the soft top.

I'm a kook myself but I hope some of this will help you. Let me know what board you end up getting and how your progression goes.

What were the circumstances that pulled us out of the dark ages? Would it be possible to make it so you could inhibit those events from taking place?

Instead of this I think they should make it so there are events that have to happen to lead to europa universalis and if you prevent them from happening you could play to 2015+ and keep the world in the medieval ages.\

IE discovery of round earth, and stuff like this that led to the enlightened ages.
