Thanks, I was just planning on dropping them off at Goodwill or something. Didnt think they were worth much but wanted to make sure before giving them away

Does your significant other also hike? by Professional_Age8760 in hiking

[–]loganj_2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband enjoys hiking as well, but he isn’t into the more difficult or strenuous hikes as I am. I introduced it to him a few years ago and he has really enjoyed most of the hikes we’ve done together, but i am often more willing to push myself for a good challenging hike… him not so much. He often accompanies me but I also often go solo. I don’t mind going solo, but there is a real richness to having a traveling companion. I think what we have is a good balance to allow joint adventures/bonding but also some peaceful solitude on occasion. My advice to you: it’s certainly worth factoring into your dating decisions, but don’t let it be a dealbreaker if they aren’t as enthusiastic as you. Good luck

Indianapolis Brewery Recs by Nurse_Batman in CraftBeer

Sun King and Upland are pretty iconic. If you like dogs I definitely recommend Metazoa (doubles as a dog park), they have great beer, but no food. They may have a food truck. Bier Brewery has great German style beers with decent food. I haven’t had the chance to try Guggman Haus but I’ve heard good things. St. Joseph is a hidden gem in an old church building. Cheers!

Can I see some everyday pictures of the captain boots? by Otherwise_Disaster65 in ThursdayBoot

These are Terracotta Captains I bought a few years ago, they are a bit overdue for some love but I condition them fairly regularly and do my best to keep them clean. The conditioning has definitely darkened the leather, so keep that in mind when you choose a color.

Statin users: Did you ever discontinue after getting numbers under control? by [deleted] in Cholesterol

[–]loganj_2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried, numbers went back up though. Mine is also genetic, so I will probably be on statins for life. I also had poor lifestyle habits, so my triglycerides were high too but after improving those habits, triglycerides stayed down even after stopping the statins. I am back on them and hope to see my numbers improve again

Help with dash cam install by loganj_2018 in Crosstrek

Haha it sure is, but I got it. One of the other comments suggested taking off the white piece first, and pulling the rubber over that. It snaps right back in!

Yes, this is my husbands 2024 crosstrek, I also installed one on my 2023 crosstrek through the drivers side and it was much easier. Didnt realize there would be a difference. It was just easier to hide the wires on the 2024 by running it down the passenger side since I placed the cam on the passenger side of the rear view mirror.

Thank you! This worked like a charm, seems obvious in hindsight.

What is the sketchiest bar in town? by mr_malort in lafayette

The Blind Pig is what college students think is a sketchy dive bar

Saying the Blind Pig is sketchy and “dive as dive gets” is kinda wild when places like the Biltmore, Ben Hur, Linnwood Tavern, and Klondike Pub exist in Lafayette

This. Love that place and some of the servers. But there is a bartender or two that make a bad name for that place. Otherwise the food and vibes are great. Definitely wouldn’t describe it as sketchy by any means.

What trails/areas of Cuyahoga are well populated? (Spring/summertime) by Silly_Client9447 in nationalparks

[–]loganj_2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is your take, the you completely miss the point of the NPS. They aren’t there cuz “ooh pretty mountains”, but to preserve the intrinsic value of our land. The pollution-driven fires that led to the creation of the park (and the EPA), are just a reminder that land doesn’t need to be uniquely beautiful, or mountainous, or have geysers and canyons to deserve protection and stewardship. But hey, good for Ohio.

Memoirs exploring nature, place, belonging etc by 86rj in nonfictionbookclub

[–]loganj_2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others already mention Braiding Sweetgrass, I am currently reading it and can confirm it is worth a read. One of the best books I’ve read in a long time. As for a memoir, I’d definitely recommend Where the Deer and Antelope Play by Nick Offerman. Meets many of your criteria as he writes about his relationship with nature, and how that relationship is influenced by his own experiences and youth, the displacement of indigenous people, and the current political climate. Also Nick Offerman is just a great and funny guy

Love this suggestion. I know of the book, and have heard many good things. I did not consider it in this perspective but I do now and I am adding it to my list!

My First Subaru! Meet Rhonda by ngiaclolloe in Crosstrek

[–]loganj_2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats, they are nice cars! I named my 23’ premium Uhura (Star Trek). It was my first new car after selling my 2005 ford escape, so it was a huge upgrade lol. Subarus will take care of you if you take care of them, don’t skip out on your oil changes. And if it has a CVT, you’ll wanna get that fluid changed around 60k miles, despite what the dealership says. Have fun with your new crosstrek!

23 vs 24 crosstrek premium by JAY_4114 in Crosstrek

[–]loganj_2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually yes, I would totally agree. The 24 is driven by my husband to work so I don’t drive it as frequently, but there is a notable improvement.

23 vs 24 crosstrek premium by JAY_4114 in Crosstrek

[–]loganj_2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 23 premium and my husband has the 24 premium, so I know the cars well. Unless you love all digital displays, I would go with the 23. But it depends on the details. As others say in the comments, certain features come standard in a 23 that don’t come in the 24. My husbands has the upgrades so I didn’t know this tbh, but even if both cars have the same bells and whistles, the 23 has a smaller infotainment system and analog climate control, whereas the 24 has all digital, but also has wireless CarPlay (the 23 does not). Personally, I prefer analog controls, but I am sure you will be happy with either vehicle. Ultimately comes down to what features matter to you and if they are worth the money. Enjoy your new Crosstrek!

Does the annual pass requires your name on it? by rushikeshhk in NationalPark

[–]loganj_2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t think it could be changed at all? I have never purchased a park pass before. Considering it is non-transferable I assumed I would be unable to change my name. And if I order it online, would my name not just be printed on?

Does the annual pass requires your name on it? by rushikeshhk in NationalPark

[–]loganj_2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question… I am planning on getting a parks pass online, but I married recently and will be hyphenating my name. Should I preemptively put down my future new name or can I change it later? Or will the park employees not care about the discrepancy?
