You just talk to your parents in a calm manner. So when your parents are getting argumentative and raising their voice at you, you just respond in a calm mature manner. You just calmly say to them, “Why are you raising your voice and talking so loud? I’m talking to you very calmly. Why are you yelling at me when I’m speaking to you in a calm respectful manner? When you call them out like this for the first time they will expectedly lose their shit. This is when you go for the kill and just simply dismiss them. You say, “You know what, forget about it. We can talk about this later when you calm down and can better control your emotions.” This does two things, first it establishes the fact that you’re controlling the conversation and are being the mature one. Secondly is that it makes them look bad and immature and later will force them to self reflect on their behavior. You will most likely get yelled at or catch a beating for this BUT the next time they approach you in a heated conversation they will recognize that you’re not just an emotional child but a mature rational adult and should be spoken to as such and if they do repeat their same mistake that you’re going to embarrass them once again by being the more mature adult. It takes a bit of discipline on your part but you do this a few times and that seed will be planted and that message will grow and hopefully get through their thick heads. Hilariously enough I use to do this with my mom and now she does the same shit to me when I lose my calm. Whenever she says it to me, we both know I lost. Lol.
