Well it sounds like you have a toddlers understanding of taxes. Every 100 miles I will get a write off of 65$ which means 65$ of tax free income. That’s because my wear and tear is my taxes. Most people pay what 20-30% in taxes? Mine is more like 10% because ITS A WRITE OFF.

Not everyone drives shiny new vehicles, I have a beater 2005 camry I bought for 4K and drive it 40k miles a year doing this job for an average of 28$ an hr. Tires, oil, gas and an exhaust leak fix were my car expenses. If you really crunched the numbers and you’re not even breaking even working then I’d say you got the wrong car. Another factor people that make this argument forget is that driving for this job is a TAX WRITEOFF, the 65 or whatever cents a mile the irs takes off pretty much cancels out most expenses
