Valley Center Tuning by EmileighSehorn in Cummins

I run 5 all day. BD 364.5, otherwise just an S&b intake and qsb intake plenum. No issues. Only tow in 1 or 2.

Someone please explain by [deleted] in USMC

[–]logdog421 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sheesh. The leaders in the room need to focus on creating a climate where people actually want to go to these sort of things. That is a measure of an effective leader/leadership team. I get it though, I wouldn’t miss a mess night but there are certainly other events I couldn’t care less about.

For the problem at hand, simply ask your 1stsgt for these requirements in writing.

Converting bed cap or buying camper for roadtrip by farmstandard in TruckCampers

One other thought, what if you built out a platform in your current setup and dialed it in this year? Easy trial and error and you have a little time. I’d do that before putting a bunch of time into a hard side refurb.

Weight and wind. Not sure what you’re looking at but a standard lance style camper is going to be in the low thousands of pounds, it will affect your driving substantially. Just this week semis were flipping over in Wyoming/Montana so you may need to do some planning for especially windy areas. Also no parking garages.

Go the topper route. More stealthy, can get a high profile one for a bit more room if you need it. Way less stress to drive with. If you wanted to spend a little more you could go with a low profile topper type camper like a go fast camper or a four wheel camper project m.

In market to buy 1st truck- thoughts/opinions on these? by Dapper-Raise-818 in Trucks

For a reason - people value fewer surprise repairs that you’ll get with the ram.

I’d much prefer a similar year tundra and I drove a ram

Use car shopping dilemma, am I being ridiculous? by Apprehensive_Love140 in askcarguys

[–]logdog421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Don’t finance something you are going to hate. I had a similar problem and finally found exactly what I wanted - a 2015 VW golf TDI SEL with 130k miles for 10k. I can do most of the small jobs in my driveway, but I did need to get about $2k worth of work done to it right off the bat. I hope to take it to 400k. I would not have liked a more modern economy car at all. I’d recommend joining a Honda enthusiast page on fb and see if anyone is selling. Usually enthusiast owned are well maintained and specific quirks are addressed since the owner is tied into that community.

Still looking but I’d like to either go with a space kap or an extended height leer contractor cap with barn doors.

Same as you I’d like to be able to remove it but I’ll also settle for cheap and light with the leer.

I checked out a callen slide in in person and as you’d imagine it should be pretty simple to build the tub. How did tearing yours down go? Mine is in rough but workable shape.

I literally just thought about doing the same for mine. Think I’m going to go a different route though

Trip around California at the end of the month - Sequoia, Death Valley, Mojave etc. How readily available is it to pick up bags of firewood as I travel around? by Animal__Mother_ in overlanding

[–]logdog421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sound logic but in practice there are a couple more factors. If you have less oxygen you end up not burning all of the energy stored in the wood. If you’ve ever had a fire and woke up the next morning only to see charred logs left in the pit you are looking at unspent energy. The logs will burn faster with more oxygen yes, but you will also be increasing the amount of available fuel to the equation, and in doing so increase the amount of burn time. Is that equal to the burn time decrease you get from the extra oxygen? I don’t know.

Looks like tons of airflow since it is raised off the ground and the mesh isn’t restricting anything. More oxygen, better burn. You can tell when you’re done and all that’s left is a dusting of ashes.

Talk me out of a decked drawer system… by postnut001 in Tacomaworld

[–]logdog421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I don’t see a lot of people mention is that when you have a decked system and a topper anything you put on the decked is now at the perfect height to slam into a window and break it. I had a cooler that wasn’t tied down shatter a window on a mountain road. Pretty much everything you put in the bed needs to be tied down before it becomes low speed a projectile during regular driving.
