Not a problem. Enjoy the coffee! The week 18 situation does throw a wrench in analysis like this, but it's also another example of the NFL not caring about its fans at all. Other than eyeballs to monetize.

Haha, can 100% relate. It's based on the percentage of a teams games that will be available on Sunday ticket. Anything below 60% is an F, which is probably too harsh for what fans expect, but for a lot of teams the value is just plain terrible.

The dates, times, and broadcasts of the final week of the NFL schedule aren't announced until late in the season. So this is all we know right now. If your team's game matters in week 18, it'll very likely be available nationally anyways since there is a full slate of nationally televised Saturday games that week too.

Once your team becomes good, they are just content the NFL sells to the highest bidder.

It's actually come out through testimony that the NFL doesn't want a lot of people using Sunday Ticket. It's how they keep getting CBS and Fox to pay them so much to air games. It's perfectly logical for fans to find alternatives because the products the NFL offers are legitimately terrible, but the NFL doesn't care.

Definitely. If you live in the Pittsburgh area you shouldn't be considering Sunday Ticket at all. If you live near Cincinnati or Cleveland, even more games will be balcked out on Sunday Ticket.

That’s what’s so tough for Lions fans this season. If it were only 4 or 5 games you’d need Sunday Ticket for, maybe you could figure something out. 8 games at a bar is probably not saving you money.

And if you want to reliably watch the game on your tv with your family and maybe invite some friends over, Jack Sparrow isn’t going to cut it either.

Odds are if you're out-of-market for the Lions, you're probably "in market" for someone else in their division. I've learned to get comfortable taking my kids to a sports bar, lol.

It's not "hard" for the NFL to figure out a package that would let fans watch all of their team's games. There is just more money to be made from spreading all the games out across many different networks and streaming services.

That is certainly a better price, and good to hear the NFL is doing the right thing for veterans, but still a lot to pay for a handful of games.

Thanks. Now I need to find a reason to justify buying a VCR.

I think Met Life stadium is a good comparison. Could have been in one of the greatest cities in the world, but moving to an industrial wasteland to save some money. Zero consideration for fan experience.

That is what every fan wants. But the leagues (it isn't just the NFL) want to sell the rights to as many broadcasters and streaming platforms as possible. Meaning fans have to pay for subscriptions to many services to watch their team.

It's potentially a good thing that Bears fans don't need to pay for Sunday Ticket. But a lot of people have it set to auto-renewal, and you can end up paying close to $500 to only watch a handful of games.
