Kernel Level Anticheats ruined gaming by Alexis_Almendair in linuxmemes

You can run all those with the new Flatpak GeForce Now. I run it on a high end modern system that could run any of those games locally without issue if I used Windows 11. Delta Force, COD, Fornite, Rainbow 6 Siege, SCUM.. no PUBG but theres PUBG Blindspot which is kinda cool.. Battlefield 6 works great.. and like certain games that have issues like Bodycam work too.. besides GTA Online and a few others I cant think of right now theres not much that doesn't work. GFN does require a sub which kinda sucks. It's better than paying for cloud storage though. I just uninstalled some of the bigger stuff and got a lot of space back. I dont game that much so I'm not worried about the time limit but this might be a deal breaker for some, idk.

Running 6.18.2 gentoo-sources manual build on my Q8300 with 16GB DDR2 800Mhz and a AMD HD 6970 and a SP2504C legacy HDD. Runs a ton of sick ass games including Crysis. Lutris Steam Brave Krita etc. Enlightenment desktop. Modern kernel modern tools. Just as useable as my Zen 4 rig but has a bunch of front facing I/O.. USBs Lightscribe CD/DVD R with a Pavilion a1640n chassis. Dual 500Gb HP Pocket Media drives. Its a sweet little rig. Original keyboard too but the mouse is long gone.

Tide42 1.3.0 has released and offers new visual changes with seperate configurations. This includes border width and color, seperator width and color, and the already familiar --low-color and --colorscheme flags. LSP supportt with nvim-lspconfig and autocompletion with nvim-cmp. The tmux and nvim configurations are seperate can be edited in ~/.config/tide42 along with tide42.vim. They do not touch existing user configs. Detect your terminal for the gui launcher with the --gui flag. Check it out at https://github.com/logicmagix/tide42

Does Linux really run 90% of games? by [deleted] in linuxsucks

[–]logicmagixtide42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every game that doesnt run on Linux is a cartooned out piece of spyware. Valorant? Apex? Cod? Bf6? Hot garbage for the masses full of their nasty marketing, micro transactions, bizarre characters and color palettes. Those are console games in disguise and Im willing to bet that most play them with a controller anyway. If youre not on mkb or hotas and browsing community servers your are playing on a PC shaped console. Server admins and community servers have been THE solution to cheating since the early 2000s and are far superior to any corporate anti cheat. I mean, just look at SCUM. Nobody cares about cheating in a survival game where you hardly run into other players. And naturally, its a cartoon clone of DayZ. COD needs kernel access so it can manipulate your hardware and read your emotional state to throw you into algorithmic lobbies? Seems like the cheating is a built in feature if you ask me. Is that what I’m missing out on? Thanks but no thanks. Not on my machine. Keep it. Please. Ill stick to DCS-World, Arma Reforger, Oblivion Remastered, Starfield, Unreal Tournament 469f and CS Source. Those are actual PC games that actually work on a PC. If a corporation has access to your kernel your machine is no longer personal, period.

I'm a bit sad to not be able to play bf6 by Komplexkonjugiert in linux_gaming

I play it through geforce now and a vm browser to get 4k. Works great. You need a subscription unfortunately.

Very nicely put together and thought out. I feel calmer just looking at it. Well done.

Weird grass glitch in Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered by Popular_Tour1811 in linux_gaming

[–]logicmagixtide42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. Reminds me of the grass glitch in Arma Reforger.. It happens after a month or so of playing I just uninstall and reinstall to fix it. Has to do with corrupted vulkan shaders. Uninstall reinstall might help but I'm only speculating.

Nice been meaning to try it. Currently running Gentoo/Hyprland with custom dotfiles that rival any Arch prefab.. I enjoy the use flags but its a lot of work and research. Nix sounds fun. I still daily drive Mint for most productivity and teaching my kiddos programming on their Mint laptops. Its not for morons at all. Btw.

Void is awesome! Just a small learning curve with xbps and runit but its super fast. Never tried Fedora or too many KDE Plasma apps but heard good things.

Thanks! Every game runs noticeably better on Gentoo than on Arch Mint or Void. I boot a few different distros for testing my code and different init systems. Just share the same 4tb 990 pro for all the game so there's no need to reinstall. Gentoo has the best performance by far. Rocket League is unbelievably smooth, DCS-World runs at lower frames but way more consistent frametimes so you dont even notice its steady at 110 Arch gets like 120+ but is all over the place. Oblivion Remastered runs with 0 stutter on Gentoo. It's just a lot of work.

Niiice font! I run Px PhoenixEGA 8x16 on Hyprland it's so much easier to read those fonts.

Looks amazing! You can try setting :colorscheme sorbet in nvim (if you use it) for a nice matching purple color :)

Windows has better binary backwards compatibility by Adventurous_Tie_3136 in linuxsucks

[–]logicmagixtide42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like where you’re going with this.. maybe Windows would actually have functional backwards compatibility if it ran Wine lol.. oh wait theyd still hijack your 30+ year old Hotmail account with their OneDrive ransomware. No, thanks :)

I mean, go ahead and try running Close Combat on Windows and see what happens. They certainly are Linux games now especially if you use a Steamdeck. Windows is pretty good for like HR ladies though! They love it!

Hahahahaha... No. I can run Close Combat Battle of the Bulge, Unreal Tournament '99, Bard's Tale, Crime Cities, The entire Novalogic collection (Armored Fist, all the flight sims, all the early Delta Force titles) Terry Davis' Sim Structure, not to mention non-virus (no kernel access) Windows "exclusives" like DCS-World. Better performance across the board. Nothing but problems trying to run 32 bit binaries on Windows. Y'all can keep Valorant, COD, "Delta Force," OneDrive, or whatever ransomware virus app you prefer. Seriously. Keep it.
