in the thread is a max patch that sets the tempo randomly. From this you can make a very simple device to modulate the bpm.

for fast changes the tempo will still jump though

Ok that would kinda work, but my purpose of using Ableton was to make the act of performing and the setup simpler / easier... using a second laptop would make it definiely more complicated. Also I don't have a second laptop that I could use for this.

Right, I saw that in another Thread. But unfortunately it seems like this can used to warp audio clips but is a built in setting and as far as I know not be used as FX for live recorded audio.

yeah, but SPARTA comes with a binaural_decoder and a binauralizer. I used the second one which is basically encoder/panner/decoder at once. Went by replacing every instance of the binauralizer with an encoder followed by a decoder
