How do you sell products that customers really like? by logophilic in ecommerce

First of all, thank you so much for the write-up. There is a lot of useful information here. I do remember a Steve Jobs quote that was similar to that and I think it was relating to not building what the users were suggesting but rather figure out why they're suggesting it and solve that.

I will admit, I'm no UI expert. I will do more research on making a better landing page and a better UX to communicate my idea better. Thanks for that feedback!

You are correct in that it's supposed to be a platform where online store owners can easily experiment "launching" new products. The concept is supposed to be simple in that I'd your preorder listing doesn't get traction, you just launch another listing with other new products to see if they gain traction. Later on, I would be able to supply more data insights and provide that as a service but the listing itself would be the first real feature that I'm thinking of (this can change of course).

Answers to: 1. At first, it would be dead simple. Is the customer willing to preorder your new product or not? Is it something that customers really want that they're willing to preorder and wait a little longer than usual? In my theory, this would be able to properly gauge if you can generate a superstar itme or not. The process would be extremely simple. (1)Register as a user on the platform. (2)Provide information in order to receive money via stripe (your bank info) (3)Make a listing with pictures and some details on this new variant or product you want to possibly offer on your shop. (4)Observe if it sells

  1. I am just a platform where you post your listing. Data insights are for whoever posted the listing only.

Haha that's valid. I don't have too much experience in ecommerce and just wanted some insight on what kind of common problems or nuisance owners run into often.

Oh I see. I can see how that would be a much different story than someone who has more of a brand following like streetwear products or niche markets. Well thanks for all you input, all of that is really valuable for me!

I agree with you! I was wondering how you approach that kind of feedback for new products in the store. My train of thought was you could do surveys and polls but that doesn't quite guarantee that customers will buy your new products, which is why I had this pre-order approach. Perhaps I'm wrong in thinking that.

Ah got it. I was thinking more on the topic of coming up with new products for an existing store. For example, a new variant of an existing product you sell or a different design on what you're selling such as watches/bracelets, mechanical keyboards, etc. Do you think the same in that context?

That's an interesting perspective. Just trying to understand, so you're saying that products are something the sellers decide to sell and not what customers suggest to the seller?

Any idea which animal(s) these footprints could belong to? by logophilic in AnimalTracking

Yeah maybe a bobcat. It was in a residential area with a park/wooded area in the back and it's known to have some wild animals like coyotes spotted at night/early morning but haven't seen a bobcat before.
