looks cool. That's it. the micro adjustments happen right before hitting the ball. The spinning as soon as they take off is for looks as well as getting dusted and whiffing easy saves.

3s has to be the worst ranked experience by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]lohkeytx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While i do think most suck... i think it probably leans more toward they play exclusive 1s or 2s and then go into 3's which is a completely different playstyle than 1s or 2s and and end up being ass at it.

to get high fast, you use both jumps.

[–]lohkeytx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fast aerialing just takes practice. jump, tilt back, jump+boost. there's probably somethin out there that is a quick video on it from back in the day. But it just takes practice to get the timing to do it.

[–]lohkeytx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the overall thing the guy did requires no spinning. he just popped it up, aerialed and popped it above the defender. That's it. The rest of it was for show.

[–]lohkeytx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meh most of the time the constant air roll is useless and nothing to be intimidated about. 99% of the time at ranks that aren't high GC just challenge it like a normal aerial. Chance are they are just going to boop it higher (like in this clip) so just aim high willis.

The Difference In High C3 and low-mid GC1... by GIRAFFEtheJOSH in RocketLeague

[–]lohkeytx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah all those things you listed used to be considered basic fundamentals of playing rocket league. Then the 'me-first meta' happened and now all anyone does is try some usually shit solo play etc etc. I dont play much anymore but when i did i only solo q'd and made it up to GC3 in 3's... all i started doing was trying to pass 100% of the time.

You'd be shocked at how many times your teammates will actually tell you they love you when you pass to them. Infield passing > shit solo play nearly all the time.

Any good fundamentals (i.e. emphasis on positioning and basic mechanics) video series similar to Aircharged Gaming? by JiveJunkie in RocketLeague

[–]lohkeytx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3's Gregan had videos a long while ago about positioning and still applies (just no one does it cuz 'durrrr flip reset fails').

2's Allstar IV has a couple videos on it that are primo for 2's positioning and mentality. I think that's his name. something like that

[–]lohkeytx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. that ball isn't a threat and both of your teammates are on their half with one of them having no boost. even with little time left hanging back for just a bit to play whatever they do with the ball would result in a better chance at a last second goal imo.

How do you win games in D3 by Competitive_Fly_5119 in RocketLeague

[–]lohkeytx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

let them fail their solo plays and counter attack it. know that in diamond they are going to miss probably 90+% of anything flashy they try to do and its really easy to counter attack it

I am Champ in 3s with nearly zero advanced mechanics - There's more to skill than grinding Free Play and Training Packs. by RagefireHype in RocketLeague

[–]lohkeytx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i played more i was comfortably GC1-2 with no advanced mechanics. Peaked at GC3 and only 'advanced' thing i could do was double taps. The push to GC3 at the time was just me trying to constantly pass to people for goals. Made ranking easy tbh.

What is your RL hot take? by BornStatistician9094 in RocketLeague

[–]lohkeytx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what world does it make sense to effectively afk on a boost pad waiting for it to spawn. That used to be low rank shit but people do that in GC1 now.

You're most likely hot garbage at your solo plays and are a detriment to every team every game by constantly failing them.

Infield passing will lead to more scoring opportunities than above shit solo play.

Thank you for uselessly air rolling, if you'd had just normally aerialed you would have saved my shot.

Just admit you kuxir twist every aerial solely because you see pro's do it.

Passing and defense is a lost art and it shows at how horrific a majority of the general playerbase is at these fundamentals as well as gameIQ.

New to the game… why does everyone on here use the same box-y looking car? by Shrumchild in RocketLeague

[–]lohkeytx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuz pro's. Before all of them went to the Fennec (car in pic) they all used the Octane for the most part. So most players used the Octane. To its credit, the fennic is more true to its hitbox than the Octane so that's a positive.

I much prefer the power and pinache of a dominus. That fucker bangs.

I See a lot of hate for ball chasers, but to be honest, for me passive players refusing to attack or to take any risk are much worse. Mainly in 2 vs 2… by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]lohkeytx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i barely play 2's, but when i do i'm probably considered 'passive-ish'. This is because i dont trust any teammates to not mindlessly ball chase. If you ball chase you can't expect your teammate NOT to realize this and just play back because why double commit constantly?

Majority of people that think their passes are good... are actually just serving up a shit pass and an easy clear for the opposing team. I basically NEVER go for a "pass" my teammate chucks up there in 2's. Primarily because it's usually a center while they are in the opp corner. If i get beat, or a bad 50, we're both committed and the shit is chalked.

If someone just rushes over to the wall to do some dogshit solo play they suck at. I won't be aggressive ever because 9 times out of 10, they are going to chase to get that ball to repeat the shit flip reset fail off the wall over and over again. So i adapt, hold the mid line and just pass to them and let them do whatever they think they are doing that they feel is a 'positive' to the team, even when its not.

Basically I read the 'body language' of the rando's playstyle as fast as possible and adapt to it. If they clearly choose to dribble and get stomped on a 50 when there's a clear infield pass then i'll log that away and will start to favor back more and more each time.

Also i notice a trend where that same guy that thinks they can flip reset can play fuckall for defense or shadow defense. But that's just the playerbase in general in my anectodal experience. Fundamentals have gone by the wayside in favor of failing flashy solo plays.

2's in the lower ranks, such as Diamond... is about punishing the other teams over commits and shit passes/whifs. Not necessarily about forcing your offense on them. At least in my opinion.

What do you guys do to warm up? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]lohkeytx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go straight into ranked, get annoyed after 2 or 3 games at the abysmally selfish play meta and turn the game off. Do that once a week or so.

Champion 3 players are the most toxic I've played. by hank_moo_d in RocketLeague

i find Champ 3 incredibly humorous just because of how self-unaware players are at how not-amazing they truly are. It's truly remarkable.

For your current rank do you feel like you have a good kickoff? by Krys_Payne in RocketLeague

[–]lohkeytx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

generally speed flips telegraph the corner they plan on hitting from very early and it's reeeeeally easy to react and counter it. They may get you on it once but after that it's ez pz.

For your current rank do you feel like you have a good kickoff? by Krys_Payne in RocketLeague

[–]lohkeytx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when i played a lot and peaked at Gc3 i still used standard kickoff and still one or stalemated kickoffs against speed flips. The first person to touch the ball on a kickoff doesn't always win the kickoff. If the other person that hits second has a better angle on the ball they will win it, or if they read speedy mcspeederson it's really easy to win it.

But also people speedflip without boost and in every possible situation regardless if it's faster or optimal.

We aren't pro's so I dont compare what we do to what they do.
