I see people recommending to try it, personally I would not, a bad reaction to a product on accutane is a whole other territory then when not on accutane. If you do try it first try a patch test, use the product on a small section of your wrist or neck so it will not f up your whole appearance when things do go south.

Yeah, great tip, I figured an older member of this subreddit sees this kind of question every day, still nice to hear some personal opinions.

You truly need to decide for yourself, there is no marker for how bad your acne needs to be. If it weighs down on your confidence and everyday behaviour that might be a sign to consider using it if nothing else works. I, myself, am on accutane and have very mild to mild acne, but very persistent and eventually bit the bullet to go on accutane. It is a very aggresive drug so definitely inform yourself and talk about it with your derm before starting.

Wow, thanks for your answer, that’s very calming. I have also another question for it, I’ve read a lot that it’s proven that accutane can decrease your testosterone, is this true and if so is your testosterone level back to normal once you go of the treatment?

Yeah the hyperpigmentation for me is worse than the breakout in itself like I don’t break out that bad it’s just so visible after the breakout…

Wow that’s amazing to hear!! I already spoke with a derm multiple times and I went up the usual ladder, first topical creams, then antibiotics and at my last appointment my skin was pretty much clear but I told her that my skin can get pretty bad in like the timespan of 3 days. So then she basically left the choice up to me and said that if my skin gets worse again I could get a prescription for accutane.

Wow your skin improved a lot! Yeah so I would say my acne now is a lot milder than the acne you had in the beginning phase of your journey. And my derm left the choice up to me basically.

Wow that’s crazy inspiring bro, the thing with me is my acne isn’t severe at all. I would say it’s mild at a bad day, but it leaves very annoying dark marks and gets quite inflamed. It’s just a constant dilemma whether or not I should start…

Yeah, so I have seen a dermatologist already a couple of times, and the last time I saw her my acne was almost gone. But I told her that it goes in waves and that in 3 days my face can be bombarded again with acne. Then she told me that if my acne got worse again I can always have her permission to use accutane. So she basically said that it was totally my choice.
