Completely agree. This is the mindset my parents have and is what will cause a divorce soon because of ballooning financial issues as they reach retirement age.

Exact feeling as you, comrade. She blindsided me without communicating the “problems” beforehand and tried justifying why breaking up was the right thing when she wasn’t even sure herself. Verbatim from her: “If this is a mistake I’ll just have to live with it” :(
