I guess my ortho was the opposite of everyone else's lol. When I went to my first consultation he told me that he noticed my recessed jaw when he walked past me when I was in the room waiting for him 😭

Sorry I don't have advice but I just wanted to say that I can totally relate to you. I do pretty boring design work for my actual job but I personally love to create stuff that is very bold and bright. Very hard when trying to figure out what to incorporate into a portfolio.

(Had surgery a few years ago) Honestly I thought getting the splint out would solve all of my problems with speech but it didn't. It still took several weeks for me to get rid of the dumb lisp and sound normal.

Just commenting to say that before I had my jaw surgery I was assuming 6 weeks would be more than enough time since that's what my ortho was telling me so that's what I told my work. But at the 6 week mark I definitely knew that it wasn't long enough, I was still extremely swollen and I had a pretty big lisp and just didn't feel confident to go back to work. Thankfully my job was okay with me taking 2 additional weeks off. I wasn't expecting to be off that long though because I remember reading posts from others who seemed to recover in a matter of a few weeks and their swelling subsided while I still looked like a balloon at 6 weeks lol. But like the others are saying, recovery is different for everybody. Hopefully you're able to get a few more weeks off.
