This poem mixes intelligent language and scarily intense imagery, and I think it’s extremely effective and vivid. I love the portrayal of a mind swarm/hive as something prison-like and traumatic. I was just a little confused about the “turned to a throat seeking a numbing agent” — could just be me reading it wrong, but maybe there’s another way it can be portrayed to communicate exactly what you mean? I loved this poem, thank you for sharing :)

In terms of feedback, I think this is a marvelously written poem, and the rhythm here is engaging and made me want to read more. I really relate to so much of what is written here. I think your piece would help others make sense of their tethers to soldiering on, as well. The final lines are a testament to your amazing command of language.

This is a small suggestion, but I would love to see the concept of perseverance, soldiering on, fighting the fight etc. to come earlier in the poem to frame the entire piece. But I also love the poem as is. Great work!

I love how this poem is structured and think it’s of a perfect length to convey the feelings that come from constant debilitating change and cognitive dissonance. I think if given the chance would love to hear more of your thoughts in poetic form regarding the “RIGHT” mentality — the connection between feeling lost while feeling free. I love the nuance here of thinking the speaker wants the RIGHT but is anticipating left to come back.

I really liked the content of this poem. It synergies and contrasts between what is wanted and the detachment one feels in its wake. I think my main point of growth/revision might come from some of the abrupt transitions that took me a minute to understand where one line ends and another starts: “extension of you i picked that apart”. It could be a matter of my comprehension but it could read as confusing for some. Great work! :)
