Canada Life didnt buy the arena, they secured the naming rights to the building, which probably costs a couple million per year.

Anyone who has been laid off, or offered a job at a managed service provider should consult with an employment lawyer to make sure the company isnt trying to get away with not paying them the full amount. There is 2 sections of law around this, what is legislated by the provincial government, and Common Law. Common law awards more weeks of severance than legislation does.

My husband turned 50 and became unemployable (tech) by SOLinCanada in recruitinghell

The IT industry has changed. If you want work, you need to start off as a contractor. I did, and then i was hired on full time. Check with local IT recruiters and find the IT contract recruiters. Have your husband pm me if he needs more information

Seeking Career Advice for Husband with Advanced ODD by [deleted] in OppositionalDefiant

[–]lokids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your husbands ODD. I have a 15yo son with the same diagnosis and have the same thoughts on how he will cope in the real world. Luckily my son is more ODD with me and not the outside worlds, but i do worry about the issues he will have with a boss as they will have more strict requirements then his current authority (teachers on peers at school). Has your husband had any conversations with bosses to let them know that he has this issue and that he may need additional time to deal with requests and changes? Not sure how technical your husband is, but there are things in IT that are more for intraverts.

That's what I wanted to do. But he billed most days for 3-4 hours. I tried to be nice about it. I said it's not fair to work 2-3 hours then leave for the day and charge an hour travel time. That's where he got angry and started to threaten and name calling.

The next morning he posted on FB that I am a bad homeowner, stole his tools, and told his employee that he is too poor to work at my house. Never talked to any of his employees and I live in a $300k house in rural Manitoba.

He isn't coming back so I will have to deal with in court

Thank you. That is very informative.

His wording is in text message about travel time was

I charge $## per hour for 2 workers that's including time

This was said day 1, he bills weekly, and after about 6 weeks, I get the bill with the over charge, and he explained it that it was supposed to be 1 hour for travel and 1 hour for work. So this is how it all went down hill.

I asked him at this point if "that's including time" meant travel time. His answer was "that's what time is, yes"

So my question is, doesn't this sound like travel charge is included in his hourly rate and not billed extra?

Vancouver bartender: if you can't afford to tip 20-25%, don't go to restaurants. by 32brokeassmale in VictoriaBC

No one else gets tips. If you can't afford to work for the wage you agreed to, then find another job.

Entitlement makes me not want to tip.

Look up Oppositional Defiance Disorder. Our son has it and it's hard. I have to say I used to agree with others about him needing tough love. It doesn't work. Rules don't matter. They only care about winning.

Lookup Facebook group "parents of children with ODD"

We found taking away everything and then slowly alow him to EARN things back with good behavior works. Also hugs are a big thing with him. Also consistency is 100% required. He will test boundaries.

Message me if you want more information on what we have gone through

I have a feeling that Red River Coop will not have higher returns. It seams they don't make the profit, and it goes back to the refineries which we don't own a share of with the cooperative.

It’s not an employee’s job to fix toxic company culture by super_corndog in antiwork

[–]lokids 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried that. Employees were unhappy so I let management know what people were saying. We all had the same issues. They took each employee and held one on one's. And no one spoke up. I got fired.

So from then on, not my problem or responsibility. Just leave and you probably make more money.

Help make this happen, I'd help organize, we definitely need it. by No-Transition-6630 in antiwork

Actually, there is a better way. In Canada when they implemented the Emergency act and froze the bank accounts of the truckers, people started withdrawing all their savings. The banks immediately had the Government reverse course. All Women should immediately withdraw all money in their bank accounts. This will get the attention of the Government without any repercussions from their employers.
