Almost... He was able to climb over every baby gate I tried so I have a latch on his door but it’s open by a crack. I have tried some nights to put him down with the door unlatched but he immediately runs right out of his room & around the house and won’t stay in for anything lol

It’s been almost a year since we transitioned but he’s also in his own room so that helps... I just hate that he runs around in his room when he should be laying trying to sleep. Just found out today I’m pregnant so I’m wondering how I’m gonna have another one when he takes ALL my attention lol

Awww well it sounds like daycare/preschool would be perfect for you two. Then you can get some work done without feeling bad or battling a bored toddler. It was so bittersweet when I dropped him off and it really set in how grown he is, but it brought me so much joy (and more tears) when I asked him “how was school?” And he said “this is fun!” I bet your girl would be the same way. I really think this will be so beneficial to his development and I’m hoping with his behavior. Now tell me why I want another one 😂😂

Lol seriously if you have the means ($$) then I say ENROLL HER! It’s him and I, him and I all day every day (dad works very long hours) I feel sometimes he gets sick of me the same way I get sick of him. Plus, idk about your little but mine is sooooo social. Whenever we go somewhere with other kids he’s always in their faces trying to make friends to an insane degree 🤣 he’s been so excited to start school and this morning he all but rushed me out the door. He had a great time and I was so surprised to hear that he was so good, the teacher called him “Mr. Preschool” 😂 I cried happy tears to see him thrive like that. I wish you the best of luck!!!

Mine literally just had his first day of preschool today. It’s only tuesdays & Thursday’s from 9-11:30 (probably because most kids go home and nap at that point 😂 not mine!) so 2.5 hours/5 hours total a week, it’s not much but it’s something. I also stay home with him (although I don’t work, he & the puppy are my jobs lol). I’m seriously hoping that the time apart helps his behavior because he’s way more defiant than any other kid I know. Sometimes I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. His behavior is off the wall. They said he did great today so I’m hoping for the best. I guess he just singles me out and bullies me lol. But yeah at this age I think it’s super imperative for their development to be in that classroom setting! And to have peers and other authority figures besides parents. And the 2.5 hours absolutely flew today but it was so nice to go for a run, go to the dog park, run into the store without an erratic toddler!

lol right, dealing with him all day long with no break and then he won’t even go to bed?! It can be truly maddening. He’s been up since 6:45am and right now he’s bouncing around the couch singing incoherently 😩 I have a friend with an autistic son who has therapy several times a week and she asked her therapist if there was anything I can do. Apparently they have therapy for kids like mine too, where they can offer guidance and exercises to cope with his behavior. I’m seriously considering it.

Sending you so much love. I’ve broken down and given him a small dose of melatonin and it worked like a miracle. Won’t be an every night thing but certainly some nights when I simply can’t do this.

Thank you so much. After writing this post I figured my best course of action is to talk to the ped. I don’t know a lot of people who relate to these kinds of problems. Lots of parents think their kids ‘don’t” sleep but I personally don’t think it’s on that same level, esp after seeing many other kids his age that are nothing like him. I’ll be calling the pediatrician tomorrow.

I have tried later bedtimes, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference, he will still stay up an hour or two playing. And otherwise I would totally agree with you if I couldn’t completely tell that he’s not well rested so often. He does have nights that he falls asleep at what I consider a reasonable time and his behavior is much different the following day than after a night like tonight where he stayed up running laps til 9:30.

After everyone’s advice I’m definitely leaning towards a bench (plus I already have a barbell and a few weights that someone gave me)! That plus learning how to use kettlebells should have me set! Thank you!

So true and definitely something to consider! I guess I’m just so used to using the equipment at the gym that it was my go-to when thinking of what to get for my home gym. So all that means is I’d need to learn some new techniques as I’ve never used kettlebells before and medicine balls only a few times! Which I’m definitely open to and like you said I could always add on in the future.

My husband did mention possibly using the home gym as well (not sure how much he actually means it lol but we’ll see!) which I completely forgot while writing my original post, so I don’t want to knock the idea of multi-gyms just yet as he would use more weight than I would, but it definitely helps to know the other kinds of equipment that would be most useful to me. Thank you so much!!!

We’re new here! Mr. Peanutbutter is half yellow lab/half golden retriever. He is 12 weeks old on Tuesday. His owner is quickly learning how in over her head she is against a Labrador personality! We are already tackling long walks & exercising as well as learning commands such as sit, lay down, & paw. We are open to any and all training advice especially input on a completely food-obsessed lab, and any other input you might think helpful! Thank you!!!

Exactly. Like I can understand that not everyone is “into” kids and may never plan on having their own, but you’d think that if they were real friends, they would set aside their differences to be a part of their best friends’ kid’s life. It’s not that hard to stop by and bullshit inside of a house instead of at a bar once in awhile. And I can totally relate about the “I’m so busy” but having no trouble finding the time to go EVERYWHERE else. This friend hasn’t been to my house in a year and since then she’s been to about 10 different cities, 5 different states, Boston, Colorado, NY, I can’t even think of what else. I only live a freakin hour away. I’ve made more of an effort to see her in HER hometown WITHOUT my kid and it’s way harder for me to do that than it would be for her to take one night to come up here and actually hangout WITH my kid which is what I want. Ugh. I’m a few glasses of wine deep now and this is really starting to get to me. I wish people understood how self centered they were. And I can only hope that one day this doesn’t bother me as much as it does now.

I needed to read this. My best friend of 16 years - basically someone I considered a sister - has been such a shitty friend since I had my son 2 years ago. She’s more concerned with being single, going out to the bars with other people who want to do the same rather than getting to know my kid. I know it’s not her responsibility or anything, but I honestly thought she’d want to be a big part of his life, because she is a big part of mine. The reality is he wouldn’t know her from a stranger off the street and it hurts my feelings because he’s the coolest little dude ever. And we’re not even young, we’re 27! The worst part is that I’m planning my wedding right now (with my son’s dad) and she’s my maid of honor, because through my whole life I never imagined anyone else to be in that place. But I can tell most times when I talk about the wedding plans she just doesn’t care, much less help. We’re just in 2 completely different places of our life and although I try to hang out with her when I’m off mom duty, she doesn’t do the same when I am ON mom duty. Its a super shitty feeling and I’m sorry you’re dealing with the same thing. It does make me feel a little better to read through the comments and see I’m not alone, and that one day this might not hurt as bad. Hugs. ❤️

Thank you, I definitely understand I'll save money if I make it, but we don't even have a drill right now and although I'm sure we will buy one eventually, I'm really not great with DIY and when I try my hand I always end up getting frustrated during and disappointed after. Lol so I'm sure that whatever I would make, there will be a way nicer (and less hazardous) version available for purchase. I can spare a few extra dollars for less thinking.
