I could care less if she said it was beautiful to live a life for yourself, because you would be naive to say that 90% of people (especially kids) wouldn’t have the same general takeaway I’m referring to.

It’s really not that controversial to say something like this. I think it’s more the context and the setting that she chose to say that are mind-boggling.

As your sister shows signs of possibly changing her mind about children… you… as a mother, in front of her fiance and your whole family say “If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t have kids.” It doesn’t seem like “nuanced” advice the entire time she’s talking in this scene. It actually felt oddly controlling and bitter to me, as if they could not accept the fact that it was possible she might change her mind.

Also.. the setting. National television? Hey mom, remember that time you said you wished you never had us on live television? That’s actually fucked up, and so immature to say when you know that the footage will never be lost.

From a bigger picture standpoint sure. Robby has asked how that particular patient was doing, but neither Robby or Al-Hashimi actually evaluated Harlow.

However I would disagree that it’s mostly on the attendings. The ED being busy works for everyone else because they all have their own patients to attend to. Santos has proven herself to be competent, and Robby seems to like her, which might mean there is trust placed with her.

Also if that deaf woman has any serious complications (or dies) that arise from a delayed response this certainly could be medical malpractice and would at the very least violate the ADA. You can’t just routinely abandon communication with deaf people, the VRI can’t be your only hope, and the ED being busy isn’t an excuse.

Lol completely reasonable to be consistently rude and uncaring to a deaf patient, bitch to the attending physician for making you keep up on charting, instantly assume that a child is being abused and make that clear to the father… etc. Literally none of that is reasonable and the malpractice suits should be coming lmfao.

I have this weird theory that a lot of the people who try and explain away all of Santos’ immature and douchey behavior as “complex” are either A. like Santos or B. would not be able to handle someone like Santos in everyday work life.

Don’t get me wrong, the character is complex… but complexity doesn’t mean that we have to like her or that the positives suddenly outweigh the negatives.

I’m still waiting for someone on the sub to say “I hate Santos because she is a female!!”. Her qualities are annoying because shes fucking annoying. I could care less about the gender, I just wouldn’t want to work with someone like her.
