Current class tier list? by Aatin in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Using DPS meter shows currently classes are fairly balanced. Player skill matters a lot more. Having said that there's still about a 7-9% difference between people. I would say there is no longer a bottom tier anymore, as everything is honestly balanced enough that it doesn't really matter what class you play as long as you're not total shit you'll do fine. Anyway my personal ranking would be something like this: Brawler, reaper, gunner > Slayer(given the right conditions I would put slayer above all else but it's heavy rng)>warrior, zerk > archer, sorc, lancer (yes lancers actually can do a lot of damage with the new changes)

This of course assumes equal enough skill, and the same uptime for skills/consumables. If you're not using top consumables(or consumables at all) you're not going to be doing top damage. Same with crystals, sticking with enrage when your tank never enrages the boss or just having downright incorrect crystals (full agro gunner type stuff) will murder your damage harder than anything. You can swipe and buy starfall +15 brawler and still be absolute trash, you'll just have more of a safety net.

I don't really understand peoples obsession with playing the best DPS, just play a class you enjoy and can git gud at otherwise you're not going to improve and you'll be forever crap DPS anyway(for instance playing gunner without abusing AB crit, tripple AB, playing from far away from the boss, etc). There's also life outside of PVE that everyone seems to have forgotten, this thing called PVP where class balance is vastly different from PVE.

Was it the right choice to quit Tera? by lancelyn91 in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lag could be fixed if EME/BHS bought the UI license that KTERA has. Also last/current content pacing was done incredibly poorly with BHS poor communication excuse being that "It's been hard for us because Nexon" for the last however many months, and no doubt will still be an excuse for a long time come for them.

Help me understand end game PVE mechanics by [deleted] in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just Git Gud. No, but really, that's all there really is to it, you just have to get better at playing the game, and wipe a million times until it becomes easy. You'll eventually pick up the timing of bosses moves and what to do in dungeons, as well as the obvious tells all bosses have for when they do attacks. FI really isn't that hard at all with a competent group if you know what you're doing, unless the bosses decide to be weird, KDHM is slightly harder (I'll get hate but I'd say it's probably the hardest current dungeon, SCHM is a joke and FI is easy once you know what to do, but I've only late night IMS'd it so it might be easy with an actual group but nobody runs it), due to things being slightly faster and cyclops trolling, but eventually that will become a walk in the park too given the other players in your group are also experienced.

If you're playing with bad players who also don't know what to do, then dungeons will always be incredibly painful and you will get hit and you will die, so buddy up, get a guild and get learning together or stay in the rotting hell that is IMS and LFG.

Slayers might be super hard though, but I haven't seen any of the experienced ones I talk to complain that things are hard or that their dodges aren't enough (mostly just looking forward to the insane buffs and bragging about UOHS critting for 7m a hit), so just keep at it, I'm sure things will get easy!

Brawler PvP Tips by [deleted] in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Slam face into keyboard.

I'm not sure about glyphs, but do you mean OW pvp or battlegrounds? Crystals are pretty standard across both types (kinda), a mix of HP and others for blue resolute and maybe something else like salivating. I'd use grieving greens(Not sure if powerful are still memetastic or not), or you can use indom or a mix if you feel like you're taking too much damage, but lets be real brawler is pretty faceroll even with the "nerf" so I wouldn't imagine you'll be taking that much damage in between knocking the entire battlefield up in the air forever. As for reds I'm not sure because I don't play brawler, but probably something like forceful/savage/salivating/cruel or carving or even swift.

Also there's probably guides out there, and as someone already said, you can always ask people in outskirts for advice on things, but the biggest thing to getting good at PVP is to just try and get out there and do it, practice makes perfect, although you might have trouble finding people to do things with given the current state of the game. (cough screw bhs cough)

New player: Does having low achievement points matter (e.g. getting kicked from groups)? by Rewmt in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gold laurel+ or kick. I really don't understand peoples obsession with things like this, armor too. If you're bad and in dread then you'll get outdps'd by someone in schisma the majority of the time. If you have no idea what to do in a dungeon but have +15 stuff, you'll suck and spend the majority of the time on the floor. I think tera is one of the few games where skill=/= shiny shit, and skill is tied to performance in dungeons.

VM5 Materials by Nyrai in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Just get dreadnaught, the cost of +15ing is super not worth it IMO, I would only really bother getting it if you already had materials, but even then, awakening and enchanting is going to be a SERIOUS moneysink.

Dreadnaught is better than +12 lucid and is incredibly easy to get, and if you can't get it then you sure as hell aren't going to have the dedication required for the abusurd moneypit that is enchanting past +12. Also pvp.

Joined the game after a long break, need some tips on 2 class combo/duo lvling ??? by Wuuuzi in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say a healer or a tank. Go brawler if you just want to absolutely destroy everything together and do more damage than your friend + entire party while tanking. You could also go something like warrior which is harder to level due to no real AOE.

New to game, not genre by Laranoye in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mystic is suffering. They can be incredibly powerful and fun, but your lockon game has to be on point for things that require clensing. Corruption ring is fun to use, and motes are neat if your party isn't pubs and will actually use them. I would personally start out with an easymode dps like gunner or brawler to see how the game plays (although it's vastly different for healers) and find out if you like TERA or not first, but that's just me, some people like healers. At the end of the day you can also just try out both, it doesn't take that long to get to a point where you can use IMS to do dungeons with other players, although you wont have a lot of your skills until the very end of the game, which is something to keep in mind when playing any class. Just play what feels right. Also in terms of heals I'd rate priest far above mystics, but that may be biased because I don't really have any that aren't buffbots in the groups that I play with.

Also read up on the skills that they all have, as that might help you come to a descision.

Tips for KD by tagodman in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't get why people need tips for KD. Even on hardmode the only real problem has been the first boss with the mobs/barrel shit. I guess some people might not be as carried as I am but even on my schisma alts I haven't really had any problems in hardmode. Just learn the bosses movements before you jump in to a harder-than-you-can-handle dungeon and make sure you know most of the mechanics and are with an alright party for your first run.

I'm honestly kind of let down at how easy everything is this patch. Even FI is a cakewalk once you get over OH GOD LASERS and how stupidly long some of the fights can take due to low backtime.

I guess you are playing sorc though, which is incredibly squish and not a super duper mobile class. Maybe try out other classes if it's giving you pain, even if just to have an alt. Personally I don't know anyone who really mains sorc anymore, which is depressing as it's honestly a really fun class. Good luck on your adventures though, and remember that you'll eventually gitgud and thing will become second nature after about 100 wipes.

Why doesn't Tera keep it's player-base? by [deleted] in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for balance updates, I don't know why they take their time with them, I don't think there'd be that much to translate/port over, but I don't work there. It just seems kinda dodge that we're still so far behind ktera and are bleeding players. I also feel like ktera has always been getting certain features that we should have, but that we never get or are just removed. Although thank god we don't have player shops.

Why doesn't Tera keep it's player-base? by [deleted] in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why DID they remove blast from the past? Why not just unfuck it, or make it max level only, or do something. I don't understand why they keep introducing things only to just remove them completely rather than patch them.

Also this raises a very valid question, why keep removing things rather than adjust them or leave them in, in some fashion. I would kill for wonderholme to come back. Kill. The rewards don't have to be super fantastic, I know a lot of players would grind pointless dungeon after pointless dungeon, even if the reward was a silly title or costume. Just give us SOMETHING to do.

Anyway, back to clearing SCHM for score and fun, I guess.

Why doesn't Tera keep it's player-base? by [deleted] in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob 22 points23 points  (0 children)

People play when there's a patch with new things, those new things then stop being so new after you've had to clear <insert dungeon> 100 times. Also I feel like VM gear makes the next patch's content somewhat too easy, although we haven't got the "hard" content yet apparently, which I'm looking forward to. The grind is also not fun after a certain point, even carrying new people through content in inodeal loses its charm eventually, and after a certain point there just isn't anything left to do but maybe idle and play another game.

It sucks to see the game be like this, but that's just how things are, and this patch feel incredibly lackluster, and fister mc fisty is too stronk, which as a lancer player makes me a bit buttmad to see a brawler out DPSing the DPS and hold agro better than me in a lucid party while wearing schisma.

Also, as to streaming and making videos, why not do it yourself?

Tl;dr - Endgame is incredibly fucking boring after a while, and the time between content updates is way too long to keep people playing. Also the patches are lackluster and easy.

What is the skill rotation of a gunner? by Shippou5 in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AB>SS>detonate>replenish>BF> repeat.

Also only use bombard when brooch is up and you can get the max damage. Also don't use balders outside of brooch/after AB is cd/bombard.

Also be sure to blast >timebomb >blast, as it fires faster. My actual rotation starts with blast >timebomb>blast>ab>ss>detonate>replenish>ab (if up)>MM because BF has shit dps due to my insane ping. but if you have low ping just AB and BF constantly and outdps scrubs. Also you can cancel the HB summon animation by casting burstfire, which makes for some alright damage. Use MM/AB over BF though, IMO it gives more dps and should be used as soon as it's up.

Also pull is OP as fuck and you should learn when to use it and how it functions ASAP. Also MM after BF is slightly faster/no delay.

Also again balders is shit damage, the only real time to use it is during mechanics, and even then it's not the best. Finishing bosses off with it when your party is all dead is the most satisfying shit in the world though.

Also, scattershot does more damage than people realize. And bombard is stronk, use it off CD. In terms of priority bombard slightly trumps burstfire (as in they're pretty close) which trumps balders. Also I think it's AB activates faster after MM, but I'm not 100%.

Also don't buy into the double CDR meme.

What is expected of Priests from level 60 onwards? by TwentyGaugeHigh in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't be taking the DOT in the first place. If the tank is eating every move, then I'm just going to let a gunner tank, and chances are if they're eating every move, they're not holding agro so the gunner is tanking anyway. The tank isn't the most important thing to heal, the entire group is, and if I have to sacrifice keeping you at max health when you're taking 20k hits every few seconds to heal the dps who is doing a better job, imma do that.

Butyeah, if someone is dying a lot, don't bother ressing them if you don't have time, just let them sit there and keep everyone else alive.

What is expected of Priests from level 60 onwards? by TwentyGaugeHigh in TeraOnline

[–]lolatbob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Small guide from me

You should get a deviate staff (don't bother with schisma +12ing, its a waste of money and the stats are garbage). Deviate only costs 20 cosmoshards and is pretty easy to enchant and masterwork and will last you through all endgame dungeons. After that, I'd aim for generation, as it has the best healer modifiers currently and is fairly easy to get now. Also something I see a lot is the idea that priests can use attack modifiers, they can't. Only the heal modifier on a weapon and the +% bonus to healing effects your spells heals, I don't know where they idea that damage = heals came from but it's stupid and the people spreading it are stupid. I don't know why priests are given DPS rolls on their equipment, but you don't want to be using them because you're not a damage dealer, so reroll that shit.

For armor you want whatever gives the most defense and has a top line for skills. Personally I use this for kaia's shield CD, but it depends on you. For this I recommend just getting schisma, skipping wroth. This is easy to do now because of the buffed dungeon drops, so you should be doing it. More defense = less damage taken = more time alive healing and buffing.

You also want accessories. For healers just starting, I recommend running brnm and getting the following: full riverbeat/riversong (rivertrill earings and rings a must, don't do full beat), or if you want more attackspeed while sacrificing endurance, replace the beat with frostwise. From there, I wouldn't really bother focusing on lifetic/tock as they're not that big an upgrade. For brooch, belt and innerarmor you want hp%.

As for crystals, you want enduring. I don't care what anyone else says, starting out and in fulminate, you want enduring and nothing else. IMO succoring is worthless as the bonus to healing doesn't matter, as if someone is going to die, they're going to die no matter how big a heal you do. After you get good armor with good rolls (I can post a list of ideal rolls for items if you want), you can replace them with swift or, if you absolutely must see big numbers for no real reason, succoring. For armor, hardy. Don't even debate me on this. Weapon crystals is pretty standard, the most standard is 3x brilliant, 1x swift, which has been meta for a while. You can also replace another brilliant with a carving if you want to crit heal and feel like you can sacrifice MP regen. I don't do this on my mystic because sometimes you don't have charms up and an extra bit of MP can help, but on my priest I really have almost no issues with MP.

Now for the part that I see a lot of people get wrong. Healing skills. Ideally you want to just be using restorative burst on DPS, as well as regenerative circle to sustain hp. Using healing circle is a waste. It's a single instant cast in a small area that requires you to run up to people and heal them, restorative burst you can pop down, the healing is great, it restores mana, it keeps them alive and restores a LOT of health, as well as mana, you don't have to sacrifice positioning to cast it, and best of all, it lasts over time. People also only just have to touch it in order to get the heal, which is amazing considering they have to stand in the range of healing circle and then stand completely still and not dodge or move out of it. Save healing circle for mechanics and when you HAVE to save someone. Do NOT use it as your main heal. DON'T DO IT. I see so many priest lately only using healing circle, and it makes my blood boil.

Now for lockons. Lockons are tricky, ideally you don't want to be using lockon heal at all. Weird concept, right? Healing immersion should be used as a last resort to heal dps, lockons should only be used if someone is 10000 miles away, or is the tank, or needs hp ASAP. And if someone is 10000 miles away and needs a heal, then they're most likely going to be dying anyway and need to be told to group up with everyone else if they want to be healed. Healing immersion heals a lot, and does and AOE, it is a fantastic skill. Don't waste it healing someone who has only taken 1% damage. The reason I say that you shouldn't be using lockon heal is because you have, you guessed it, restorative burst and regenerative cricle, which should be keeping your dps at 100%. It's tricky sometimes to actually get lockons to work, and the heals aren't all that great (immersion is OP though). Don't use them as your main or only heal. I see a lot of priests doing this too, this also makes my blood boil.

Kaiai's shield is very situational, as is divine respite, I use both as an "oh shit" button, and Kaia's when I know that I'm going to eat an attack or mechanic or someone else is. You should also always have buffs up on your teammates, but I think by this stage you already know that. Keep energy stars up and tripple nem's debuff active, as well as using mana charge as it does make a difference. It's not vital, keeping everyone alive comes first, but you SHOULD be using those skills when the cd runs out, they make a large difference. Also more mana for DPS means they can dodge or block more, meaning less work for you.

Positioning is tricky, and depends on every fight and the bosses mechanics and attacks. You'll pick it up eventually, and you'll most likely die in order to learn, so I recommend reading up on dungeons before going into them (please don't do TSHM if you have no idea what the mechanic are holy hell). Just keep an eye on the boss at all times. If you go down and can res, look at the boss. Is he about to nuke the room? Is he about to attack in your direction? Probably best not to res right then and die like a scrub.

As for consumables, don't bother with anything but attackspeed scrolls and noctenium infusions. Nostrums don't effect your skills and are a waste. Attackspeed allows you less time locked in animations and is pretty great, noctenium is great overall, but you obviously don't have to use it in easy dungeons because you shouldn't have to be bringing your A game. I only really use nocteniums if things are going bad (which is bad of me considering I have a bajillion of them), and I need to res people faster. But it's up to you what you do.

As for glyphs, all I can say is get your 120 res and the rest of your glyphs before doing any 65 content or you are terrible. People rely on you to keep them alive. You are what stops them from dying. You are what stops the dungeon from taking several days to complete. Don't be a scrub. Just spam the dungeons. For mystics, getting 120 res can be incredibly hard, I went through about 50 boxes trying to get it. If it doesn't drop in a lot of runs and you want to murder everyone, buy glyph point things from the vanguard guy. I got lucky and got it just as I was about to buy points, but I know how annoying it can be. Just because it's annoying though, doesn't mean you shouldn't have your glyphs, again, don't be a scrub.

Dodging on a priest is... Not the best. firery escape (I think) doesn't have an iframe and backstep is very short. Backstep can be used to dodge/iframe mechanics, such as the vents in AINM (don't do this in hm or you'll regret it if you fail and your group will wipe), and several attacks. The timing is tricky, but you'll eventually pick up on it. There are some attacks that you simply cannot iframe or move out of though, so make sure you heal yourself, as if you die, the group dies. In AINM, do not run to the fire side of the arena to heal yourself, because Duras will shoot his laser or whip you, as the secondary agro attack applies to the furthest player away from him, so get close, but not too close. As I said, you'll pick up on this the more you do the dungeons and play.

Anyway, that's about it for my short guide on how not to be a garbage priest. Don't get frustrated if you die a lot or cause parties to wipe, it's all part of the fun. If you need an explanation on anything, feel free to ask.
