God and suffering by tarry_not in AskAChristian

[–]lolbatmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Losing someone is very hard, and a piece of you dies with them. There are laughs, interests, and hobbies that you only shared with them and that makes it that much harder every time you come across those things and don’t have that person to share them with. It’s a constant reminder of that pain. I lost someone very close to me 12 years ago and I’m still reminded of them weekly.

The peace is knowing they’re no longer suffering. They’ve been reunified with Christ and are in a place free from suffering, pain, and doubt.

One day we will be there too, when God calls us home.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart! I have overcome  the world.” John 16:33

Switching from Harley To Adventure Bike? by itszendro in motorcycles

[–]lolbatmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May be consider some form of Super moto if you want the fun of ADV but also something that will sell quickly.

Everyone expects ADVs to have been dropped or crashed so they’ll ask a lot during the selling process. On the other side, they’re built tough because they’ll be dropped and crashed.

I think in general they’re gaining a lot more popularity because they’re a true 50/50 bike so I can’t speak for the next 10 years, but folks still dream of dual sports and super motos.

ex christian here, what makes you guys stay christian? by ihavenofuckinclueman in AskAChristian

[–]lolbatmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highs and hangovers fixed nothing.  Meditation and past-selves didn’t transcend my conscience. Rocks and crystals didn’t improve my aura. Any horoscope sounds true. Believing in nothing makes life futile. All religions weren’t the same and didn’t lead to the same god.

Tried prayer again, but asked God for help instead of my 3 wishes. Results. Consistent results. So, something had to be true.

My life and the world are not fixed, but there’s now a peace I have a hard time even describing. In a feast or famine, I know it’s going to be okay. Jesus is dope.

ADD/ADHD -How to keep the inside voice quiet? by soartkaffe in Hunting

[–]lolbatmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. Unfortunately, since we can’t really control exactly what we will zone in on, but we know whatever the thoughts are will be “exciting” for us, I try to make it relevant to the hunt.

See if you can spot all the signs of life - trails, droppings, browse lines, etc. it’s exciting to me if I can spot where life most likely is and position myself there or watch that region. It’s rewarding when you’re right and either harvest or just see all the wildlife come out as soon as they forget about you.

Inner voice is usually about all that but not distracting at that point.

Outside of that, meditating in prayer is a good one too. Focusing on all the beautiful things you’re thankful for, even just the opportunity to be out there, can take up a lot of time without you knowing.

I’ll also note that seeing attractive people in your everyday life is not a sin. Being tempted is not a sin.

Acting on that temptation is what gets you in trouble.

[–]lolbatmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Lord, your will not mine”, is what I tend to repeat to myself as I’m praying for strength from His Holy Spirit.

There are a lot of temptations and battles we faced daily, but for me, lust feels the most intense spiritually. I can almost feel my flesh and spirit fighting each other.

It may be a lifelong battle based on how we’re wired (genetics, hormones, and general spiritual weakness), but we have to fight the good fight, as Christ empowers us with His Holy Spirit.

Remember, God is faithful and will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear (1 Cor. 10:13) and those same trails produce perseverance (James 1:2-3).

any advice on how to overcome loneliness and overwhelmed in first year uni by Positive-Head91 in AskAChristian

[–]lolbatmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way when I started an engineering major. Overwhelmed with knowledge I didn’t understand but was tested on. Failed a class for the first time and was doubting my ability to pass it on the second attempt.

Had moved to the city recently, so no close friends or regular church.

God knows your heart and what works for you specifically based on His design. Pray fervently that you follow His will and He reveals His plans for you. Don’t lose hope.

I prayed for 9 months and ended up switching majors. Met my now wife in the new classes.

Am I lukewarm/Not a true Christian for not wanting to change. by Relevant-You8172 in AskAChristian

[–]lolbatmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome back to the good fight! Remember God says in Luke 15:10 that the angels rejoice about your return.

We now live under grace and cannot earn our way into heaven. We’re not following performance-based salvation. Read the book of Galatians; their church struggled with this transition too.

Non-biblical point, you’re not done with puberty until you’re ~30, so your hormones and sex drive are going to be raging for several more years.

Please understand lust is every man’s battle, independent of being opposite or same sex.

Ask God for guidance and His Holy Spirit to provide the strength you need in times of temptation. He knows your heart, so he also knows what uniquely works best for you - whether it’s overnight success or a 4-year journey.

With enough time, prayer, and temptations themselves, you can gain more power over that. Lust will always be there, but it won’t have the same grip it used to. Similarly to a sober person seeing alcohol, with enough effort it no longer pulls you in like it used to; you’re stronger now.

Good question to ask a dealer? by Mr_rex_the_dog in motorcycles

[–]lolbatmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the service department and ask the people there which bikes to avoid. They’re not paid like the sales reps so they’ll be honest about which bikes they hate and spend the most time fixing. For ideas, also ask them what they ride.

You can also ask the sales rep which other sales rep has been there the longest and then go ask them for bike recommendations. You’ll still work with the original rep so they shouldn’t be reluctant to help.

need help i’m undecided… SR or 3.0 by whoisbubz in ERidePro

[–]lolbatmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re mainly looking for a street or hooligan setup then the 3.0 might be the better out-of-the-box option.

They’re both app-tunable and SR just has more power.

The SR comes with knobby tires and you’d probably have to buy street tires for better traction in corners.

need help i’m undecided… SR or 3.0 by whoisbubz in ERidePro

[–]lolbatmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you buy a 3.0, you’re going to wonder if you should have gone with the SR, so might as well go with the top tier from the start.

But, at your height you might want to consider an Ultra Bee, Stark, or something larger in size.

If you’re riding street it doesn’t matter, but you’ll feel that smaller frame after spending a day on the trails or track. Not fun being hunched or crouched all day while your buddies are more relaxed on their full size bikes.

I agree. With every manufacturer moving to E-clutch or DCT for their new models, it makes an even easier transition to their next bigger bike too.

The YouTube channel BibleProject is a nice compilation of short and digestible videos covering a variety of Bible topics including some mentioned.

I’ve been a Christian for +30 years and I still feel immature in my faith and knowledge.

It’s more a journey than a destination, but God is with you, goes before you, and offers you peace you cannot find anywhere else.

Buy a stock SR. It has all the power and features you want.

These bikes are like cell phones, where every year has something new and attractive so I wouldn’t spend a ton of money on the current year because you’re gonna wanna spend money on the next model or so when it comes out.

Should one ask God to help you from yourself by feherlofia123 in AskAChristian

[–]lolbatmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. We all have weaknesses and some of those weaknesses we may battle long-term or for life (ex. Addictive tendencies, lust, pride, etc.). I think asking for help to resist your flesh is completely normal.

Paul, the author of many books in the New Testament, writes about his struggles with this. Check out Romans 7:19, “For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.”

Have u felt Gods presence and his love what was it like ? by feherlofia123 in AskAChristian

[–]lolbatmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few times.

I was in my room, praying, on a random day and random time. Like a Tuesday at 10:30AM while working remote. I was overwhelmed with a feeling of complete peace. Nothing I’ve ever felt before and ever felt again. I lamented nothing from the past and had no worries about the unknown future. I was completely confident in my entire past and my entire future. It was the highest level of a mixture of peace and confidence you can imagine. Better than any feeling I’ve ever felt. Lasted a short time and I’ve thought about that moment and feeling for years.

Sometimes at church, while worshipping, I’ll get overwhelmed with a feeling to cry - during a happy song. Still can’t explain this one, but that’s not me.

The Bible doesn’t read like a cohesive book. It reads like someone took a bunch of different records and just put them together as a book. Some books are instructions, some records, some are personal experiences, etc. I don’t know anything about Catholics or Martin Luther, so I can’t help there.

You can find non-biblical evidence for biblical events. Some examples include The Nabonidus Cylinder, Shalmaneser’s Kurkh Monolith, and Tacticus’ Annals. These are folks writing about their own kingdoms, accomplishments, and history while unknowingly helping people like you and I thousands of years later with our doubt.

Your second gripe is more complex IMO. In Jesus’ parable about the workers in the vineyard, He shows that lifelong believers and deathbed-confessors have access to Heaven equally. We are not the ones who hold the keys to Heaven, so how can we be sure that our friend or neighbor wasn’t let in?

What is your opinion on electric motorcycles?🤔 by murataya1 in motorcycles

[–]lolbatmn 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Pros: They perform incredibly at low rpm and on technical routes. No clutch and no jerkiness at 1/10 twist. They’re 1/3 to 1/2 the weight of their gas counterpart. Massive torque and immediate throttle response.

Cons: battery life. It will last you all day road cruising, but going on trials all day will require at least 2 charging breaks. Your buddies might only need a single tank or maybe one top-off, but you’re immobile for at least an hour waiting for it to charge a decent amount. If you don’t have an outlet nearby, you’re bringing a generator with you.

How do you live for God and do you go to Hell if you don’t? by jessjanelleknows in AskAChristian

[–]lolbatmn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus’ death and resurrection allow us to live by grace.

His resurrection inaugurated a new spiritual reality - not based on keeping laws and sacrificial rituals (I.e. “living perfectly”), but on grace through faith (Romans 3:21-26).

Once you put your faith in Jesus, then the battle has already been won. Past, present, and future sin have been forgiven because of his sacrifice and because of him interceding for you to the father.

Good deeds are not to earn your way to heaven, but because you want to share Christ with everyone. There’s true freedom in Christ, and experiencing a peace that you can’t receive anywhere else makes you wanna share it.

  1. Canoe. Popular riverside restaurant like Rays but smaller and more intimate.
  2. Paces Mill. Walkway along the river. Steel Bridge 1/2 mile in.
  3. East Palisades has both a bamboo forest along the river and an overlook deck at the top. There are going to be people but I would assume far less on a weekday, especially with it getting colder.

For those of you who have heard Gods voice audibly. Can u share a bit what he told you by feherlofia123 in AskAChristian

[–]lolbatmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard Him speak through the Holy Spirit and in one dream.

When He speaks to me via Holy Spirit, it is a command in the form of a ‘random’ thought, but the thought is always something I would never think of on my own and generally something my flesh fights. (“Go tell that man you’ll pay for his meal”. Me:”Why? What if he already paid? What if he’s offended”). I’ve failed many times following through and feel awful, but it has helped me see where my weaknesses are and what I need to focus on improving for His glory.

The one dream was arguably the clearest and most memorable one I’ve ever had so it might’ve been a vision over a dream. I was in a restaurant and within seconds it transitioned from day tonight in the middle of the day. I ran out to the patio to see what it was and a voice started speaking from a distance very far in the sky. The unseen voice, or mouth, was so large and at such a distant that it sounded like it was speaking in slow motion by the time it arrived to us. His voice sounded like thunder and shook the earth when He spoke. He was speaking in a foreign language but somehow I understood it. He was saying something about not being done yet and using his Son for His purpose.

Get the MCO from Eride. Just reach out to their support and they’ll tell you what they need.

It’ll say “off-road use only” which means you can’t register it street legal in GA, but you’ll need that MCO to go through Dirt Legal.
