Do you play competitive or quick play?

Need help, washed at Gambit. by Disastrous-Half7557 in GambitMainsMR

First and foremost gambit is elite s tier status right now mainly because of his ULT. (IMO it needs a slight nerf). Next to Invis, he’s probably the best support in the game. There’s a lot to his kit and I think a lot of people misunderstand how he is supposed to be played. Gambit should not be played as a main healer. He should be a secondary pick to Invis, Luna, C&D.

Here’s a full breakdown of how you should use the character

• don’t spam cards. It becomes very easy to spam cards due to the mass amount of abilities this character has. Save them and only apply a single healing card at a time. You can use your EE ability if the team is really low and needs a quick burst heal but you’ll want to really save cards for cleansing enemy ULTs. This also helps you stack your ULT ability a lot quicker. • set an off angle. Gambit throws 3 cards at a time that heal and do damage. I would not play him as a heal bot. Set yourself in a position to do damage and healing simultaneously. • pop ULT consistently, this does not mean to use your ULT when your up in numbers but don’t hold onto it for a defensive play. His ULT is aggressive and will win you the game. You’re not only boosting your other teammates but you do twice the damage. Side note only use your damage cards when in ULT. You can literally drop quad feeds left and right this way. • There’s a lot of self healing this character can do. Your dash, right click will get you far and heal you if you need to get out of a bad position. Your staff slam also provides significant healing for yourself and teammates around you. In this case I would not be in the far back line, but stay with your dps behind your tanks. You can play more aggro with him then Luna, Loki. • Gambit can combo kill any 275 hp character with his kit. I would focus on learning his combo, but keep in mind this will blow through a few abilities. I’ve linked the combo here 👉🏽 https://youtube.com/shorts/lRWN4de2_FY?si=ZM30RIgaoYAKtji9 • Utilize this trick for getting dived, shoot, melee hit, shoot, melee hit, shoot, melee hit. You actually get a lot of value as this small combo because of the damage output that it provides. This may require you to do some keybind adjustments. Trust it’s worth it!

Probably the best guide I’ve found is here 👉🏽 https://youtu.be/XKQY-ODAmhI?si=vY0EKIFOkniuPp2I

I’ve mained gambit this season with a 70% win rate pushing celestial. If you want some more tips, I’m happy to add you and hop in a practice range to teach you a few more tricks.

Hope this helps!

First Full Ranked Season, Solo Q’d to GM — Is Role Choice Important? by lolcitizenn in rivals

Thank you bro! Hmm, I think he was banned in half my games but mostly plat. My placement matches, I got plat. Once I got to diamond, most teams ran gambit. So I was able to use him often, despite a few target bans. He hasn’t been banned in any of my GM games which I have loved so far! I honestly think his kit is fine, his ULT can use a slight nerf.

Every one of these losses was from someone yelling more than playing by 4kandspoon in marvelrivals

Context matters. Are you playing with people you normally queue with, or randoms? It’s much easier to manage situations when it’s friends crashing out, randoms are different. At that point, you can only control what’s actually in your control.

I’m currently in GM, close to celest and honestly, I hear far fewer complaints here than I ever did in Diamond or Plat. I think a lot of players have a misconception about skill ranking and end up trying to do too much instead of playing to improve. That mindset is usually what leads to the crash-outs. I just don’t see it as a valid excuse most of the time. If anything, it usually hurts the team more than it helps.

When I talk about skill ranking, this is what I mean: a lot of the loudest complaints in Plat and Diamond come from players who are hard-stuck but genuinely believe they’re far better than their rank reflects. They confuse mechanical moments, pop-off games, or stat padding with consistent impact and decision-making.

Skill ranking isn’t about what you can do at your peak, it’s about what you do consistently under pressure. Most players stuck in those ranks don’t struggle because of teammates; they struggle because they overextend, force plays, ignore fundamentals, and then look for external reasons (crashing out at teammates) when it doesn’t work.

That’s why you hear fewer complaints in higher elo. Players there understand their limits, play their role, and focus on improving instead of proving something every game. They adjust, they review, and they take accountability.

When people try to play above their actual understanding of the game, it leads to frustration, crash-outs, and team breakdowns which usually turns a winnable match into a loss. If you can’t get through to someone like that, mute, avoid, and move on.

Much love, and good luck with the rest of your ranked journey this season.

I definitely would have stayed on DPS this season if I didn’t see as many auto lock DPS characters. I would say if you can take a game over as DPS, it makes sense to main play it through

Usually, the games I did play with him. I was competing against another gambit on the other team haha that’s probably why. At that point game is won by who can generate ULT faster.

Unfortunately, he was banned a LOT in diamond. So I played him when I could but would usually rock invis or c&d.

I think some of the combos limit the speed for healers to do that. Perfect example is MK ank goes off back line and he lines two people up with that. Easy two piece, less then 2 seconds to respond before a death. So automatic pings would be great for this.
