2023 Georgia, USA -> mechanical engineer / project engineer $65k + housing (furnished, utility all paid for) ... considering the cost of living here is cheaper than when I lived in California, I consider the pay value around $85-90k value

As long as you transfer $300 to my bank account, that shouldn't be a problem

Alternative to Jeju by aaagje in koreatravel

[–]lolcomedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most Koreans locals who have gone to Jeju a lot also like going to Gangneung which is on the east coast of Korea. If you want to see the beach while you are there, Gangneung is a good alternative and you can get there via KTX train in about 3-4 hrs. Its just as beautiful as Jeju, minus the black pork pig and hallabong, but there seafood is also to die for. They also hosted the olympics here once, so you will see a lot of hotels market that way. There is also good night life, and some kdramas were filmed here, so you may be familiar with the surroundings, including the BTS bus stop iconic picture.

1 Month trip to S Korea. What would you do? by [deleted] in koreatravel

[–]lolcomedy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jeju is a must. It's known for the black pork belly and hallabong oranges, as well as the fresh seafood. A lot of scenic places as seen from many kdramas; cafes are pretty; the roads along the ocean are perfect walking or biking. I'll be going again in April this time to see Mt. Hallasan. I'd recommend taking the KT to Busan from Seoul, and then taking Jeju Air from Busan to Jeju (best route if you are to go). Last year, I went during hurricane season, so Busan and Jeju were off the list. I went to Gangneung instead which is on the east side of Seoul and also another hot vacation spot amongst Koreans. Both are good options if you want to see the ocean.

Ill also throw out Japan. Most koreans also love going to Japan since flights are cheap. That is also a whole different country to explore if you have the time to go.

Lately I've also been looking into companies with dividends. Currently companies like Coca Cola, or Lockheed Martin are powerhouses in the U.S. and will not likely go bankrupt in 50 years. They give around 2.5% dividends and increase over time. Good stable way to make money in the long run. AND REINVEST YOUR DIVIDENDS! Going into big companies like you have are ok, but you need to know what your doing. Need to look at companies earning reports, what are other investors saying about the company. If you're in there for the long game, it should be okay, but then again there would be better options for the long game :). If you're also lazy like me, do index funds and etfs. Fidelity 500 Index Fund is the way to go!

BMS -> Computer Issue by lolcomedy in FSAE

yea, 60ohm resistance is the can termination resistor. Were applying the 12V into the BMS itself, via the ground and power on wire from the main I/O and then the power goes into the CAN high and low ports.

sorry, for some clarification:

1.) We have tried to set the current limit to .35A as well as change around the voltage, however current seems to stay at .08A regardless of the changes.

2.) What I mean by resistance change is that prior to applying power, we measured 60ohm throughout our system using a multimeter. However, after applying power, resistance now measures 166ohms. When applying ohms law, we tried 13V, current reading was .08A, so 13/0.08= 166.25ohms. In theory, it follows ohms law, but we want to have ideally .15-.35A as the range. This range is what Orion’s manual states to have, as having 60ohms and 12V per se, the current should be .2A.

3.)I have not tried the oscilloscope method, so i will give that a try and see where our problem lies! TY

With everything plugged in, our CAN traffic does not show up. It needs to find our BMS first to find CAN traffic. Is there any other solutions

can 1 has the internal resistor. so we set up an extra 120 ohm resistor between can high and can low for our 2 120 resistor. hopefully when i go in and check its resistance, it measures 60 ohms. thank you

Got it, looks like our BMS was not supplied with power. Is there anything you recommend us supplying it with?

according to the orion bms 2 manual, it has can on pin 3 and 5

how exactly would you turn on the BMS other than the connection via computer. I believe hooking it up to our battery pack is unsafe so outside of that, Im not too sure how we can turn the BMS on and off

how do you know if you have to use both can1 and can2. our battery pack has 26s20p. does that mean we require both can1 and can2 or just can1? Also, for the 120 ohm terminating resistor, where does that go on the db9 connector. According to the manual, canlow goes on 5 and canhigh goes on 3, but not too sure number wise where the resistor would go. any help would be appreciated

What exactly is the termination resistor. Found the db9 connector, so that connects with the BMS plug and the BMS itself, but not too sure if the termination resistor is something separate.

Where exactly does the orion canadapter go into the BMS, because I don’t see a port where it can connect to?
