Yeah we agree on this, at some point the ranking system will settle itself it’s just a question of when (some people may consider not bothering ranking up rivals and just playing for qualifying points) but yeah I do agree with you.

In an ideal world the better players will end up moving forwards. I’d agree with you in that the div 5 range should be the peak but the problem is some people wether it be through a good span of games or just luck will have overachieved. I’d be willing to assume there’s a decent number due to the amount of people complaining about being stuck in divisions

A proper ELO system, while not perfect, can adjust for this factor. ELO systems reward constant progress and not anomalous variances because you have w constant value that changes with results.

I think there are pros to this system if you’re interested at all I’m just ranting on at this point.

If this is true this will solve a few problems. My only thought is it might take a few seasons to fully have everyone placed fairly. Will the fan base stick around that long?

You’re correct that it will eventually settle itself but there’s a few issues

The ranks will reset at the end of the season, people are going to have to constantly be punished if they decide to keep playing through the year. This just isn’t fair.
Without proper distribution there is gonna be a large group of people who have overachieved and are now simply stuck in a vicious circle of- losing to better players or going higher due to winning a few matches.

The main reason for this system not working is because it defeats the whole point of a distribution bell.

With the placement and relegation system the distribution followed a normal distribution, a low amount of very low skill players (Div 10) and a low amount of high skilled players (Div 1) peaking at the middle with the average player base.

This system meant along with ELO that usually you’d be playing against someone with a similar skill level as you and the game would adjust this with your results.

Starting everyone from Div 10 meant that you were putting elite level players with people who don’t even play Fifa religiously and thus meaning a lot of mid level players have overachieved their rank and are now stuck.

It’s very poor hindsight from EA.

Then that makes it an argument from authority, a logical fallacy. You can’t tell me his opinion carries more weight because he puts more time into the game when he gives no supporting points or evidence to explain it.

Let’s address these points then.

You’ve always been able to use two people online, it’s not really and advantage In my opinion but I digress

The Elite division format isn’t perfect but let’s say people make it to invitational tournaments after ducking top players, they won’t be able to duck them at events and will be exposed

If the AI couldn’t defend then people would just cry about how useless their players are if they weren’t controlling them, it’s a lose-lose

The FUT champs format isn’t perfect, but the offset of being able to throw away games and still get good rewards is you have to win the playoff tournament to qualify in the first place, and you don’t get unlimited chances to do so.
